Here I am!. I know everyone here has been worried sick about me since July. I have been away from Alabama working in Kansas City, Missouri. I don't have a laptop and didn't feel like a library visit so there was no internet for me. That was nice, since I got to play my guitar as much as I wanted, but I missed BA.com and my brethren & sistren. I am home for Thanksgiving, and will be back in KC,MO Sunday evening for a few more weeks before the layoff.
Before I left Platte City Tuesday morning, I rode to Parkville, MO to pick up a few gifts for my bride, and laid my bike down when a truck pulled in front of me. A couple small scratches on the bike and none on me. I rode back to my apartment to load my bike in my truck in the rain. As I rode up the ramp, the back tire slipped and off the ramp it went bounced off the tailgate and flipped over, landing on concrete on its other side. Two dents in tank, front fender cracked, rear fender bent, lost two turn signals, one mirror, one coolsac throttle grip, bent backrest and tore the pad. I managed to stay on top of bike, but the end of handlebar stuck my right thigh hard causing a bone deep bruise. Remember what I say, "if you're gonna be dump, you gotta be tough" (now I wish I was tough and rich). It would have been nice if Yota would have been there to make an initial assessment, laugh at me, and help me finish loading my broke up motorcycle! I'll get it fixed when I get laid off.

Glad to hear you survived 1) Kansas, 2) buying spousal gifts, 3) loading the bike. Now, of the three I'd have ranked Kansas as the most dangrous, but experience seems to suggest otherwise.

I think lots of dings, dents and damaged body parts have occured loading & unloading a motorbike into/out of a pickup bed.

Hey Dennis! Glad to hear from you, and that you're working; even if it means you have to be scarce for a while.

Too bad about the dumps, but it'll be fixed and the bruises will heal. Hey, at least nothing broken.

Man, I've been making that pool room slaw of yours pretty regular, lots of demand whenever we grill (which is pretty often in these parts). I soup some of it up with horseradish and/or habañeros, green chilies, jalapeños etc., works quite well for those of us that like our food to bite back.

You sound more upbeat than most that have suffered such a string of mishaps.Keep your opptomisum high and let us know what parts you might need,we all have a few spares around the garage to go for a good friend.

Sorry about your bike, Dennis. Mine is gone, and I've been looking, for a few months. At least we had our ride halfway home from the '08 GA rally. Hope to get another by Spring. Glad you are back home for a while.

I wasn't really complaining, I just didn't figure anyone missed me. I was probably right. I may be going to work in Billings next March for a few months. I haven't been to Montana in a couple decades - really looking forward to it. We'll be 220 miles apart, so that's very do-able for a weekend, and I look forward to meeting you.

God made insurance for a reason, I will be ordering brand new parts soon and probably set my bike up solo. Raynea is ready for a real touring bike since she can't do more than 150 miles on mine, due to military service related disabilities.

Please send me more of your variations of that recipe. It is indigenous to northwest Alabama and it's so good, I want everyone in the USA to enjoy it. Then to the world. Bedouin would love it with meat from a gyros on plain sandwich bread. It really sets off hot dogs and bologna sandwiches. Piper may have to learn to pull smoked reindeer meat instead of slicing it to make that slaw work, but it's really good stuff.

Bike is complete with new parts, with one issue. Instead of Cardinal Red - Triumph shipped Mulberry Red replacement Tank & Fenders. I thought "I like that better", so I need a new name for "Rosie", she just doesn't look rosie anymore with the darker red paint. Maybe Brandy or Mandi? Progressive wanted me to find used parts, but I insisted the dealer do the repairs. Progressive gave in immediately and was generous with repair costs. I'll see in May how much the premium increases, if at all. Back In The Saddle Again!! Where's my guitar?
Still can't find the stainless head pipes. Maybe I should have beat mine with a hammer before the insurance adjuster had a look. Maybe she knew where stainless headers were located.
