Cheer up it will soon be spring! A few of us will be on the Lochinver Pie Run 2010 (thanks to VikingSteve for suggesting this one - Steve and Pam have booked) if you are keen we are staying at the fantastic Royal Hotel (www.royalhotel-ullapool.com) overlooking Loch Broom. This is one of the first runs of the year so if you are interested book early.

Thanks Ivan for starting it off Yes folks 2010 marks the 2nd annual Lochinver Pie Run The plan is to arrive in Ullapool on the Good Friday the 2nd of April, and because Easter is quite early this is definitely a Hotel/B&B weekend, but if anyone out there suffers with claustrophobia there is in Ullapool a very good campsite beside Loch Broom. A good web site to look for accommodation in Ullapool is http://www.ullapool.co.uk/Like Ivan said we've already booked into the Royal http://www.royalhotel-ullapool.com/index.php they did say when we booked they still had a few rooms front and back of the hotel (front of the hotel rooms having sea views). On the Saturday its the Lochinver Pie Run We ride on some of the most fantastic roads this island has to offer. Up the A835 past Ardvreck Castle http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/lochinver/ardvreckcastle/index.html turn onto the A894 past Quinag http://www.barbersasa.co.uk/scotland/assynt/quinag02.htm then left onto B869 through Drumbeg drink stop here, onto Lochinver for dinner and their most delicious pies. After dinner its back to Ullapool and BEER TIME If you don't want to ride home in one stint on the Sunday morning me and Pam are riding down the west coast past Applecross then over the Bealach-na Bo pass (pass of the cattle) then onto Cluanie Inn for the night http://www.cluanieinn.com/index.asp you are most welcome to join us on this stretch, but if you want to stop in the Cluanie Inn make sure you BOOK EARLY. RIDE SMART All the best Steve and Pam ps. the photo in Ivan's post is the beach at Achmelvich (last year's pie run) Also a good link showing you the area http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usmapindexes/sutherland.html

Ivan / Steve. Looks like I won't be able to make this Premier event I've gotta do my desert duty for a few months around this time of the year. I hope to be free by the Northern France trip in June though

Hi New to this site and new to Bonnie americas! Tho had a few Merden Triumphs in me time. Had me America 9 months now and love it, Thinking of shorter pipes, getting rid of the "air injection" and fitting a centre stand! any suggstions appreciated. Living in Northumberland near Alnwick, any one passing up or down welcome to camp, with notice first. Wouldn't mind the Pie run but cant find any more details, I tried the Grampian RAT site to! Any help appreciated Cheers Kenny

Hi Kenny, I'm ridin' up from York area, VikingSteve (Steve and Pam) from Sheffield and Possibly Le_Big_Mac (Alex) from Nottingham and you are most welcome to join on the A1 enroute if you fancy. Never done any RAT so I don't know if any other Triumph group will be making the Trip. See Vikingsteve's post for accommodation details and any questions please ask away. BTW Warm welcome to the site buddy! As for the pipes change them ASAP you will fall in love with your bike all over again. Ivan

Nice one Kenny.... If you do go ahead and fit a centre stand it makes the difference when doing the rear wheel maintenance. I fitted one on my 03TBA and have no regrets doing so, BUT with two up on a tight left hander the foot lever sometimes touches down, where as solo its no bother. The one I fitted was from NewBonneville http://www.newspeedmaster.com/index.html just take it easy round the left handers. Back to the Pie run if you fancy it look on the links I posted, because you need to get sorted out with some sort of accommodation and if you can't wait till Easter for a pie go on http://www.piesbypost.co.uk/Ride Smart We look forward to seeing you at Easter

Sounds good Ivan. Not quite sure where the visitors centre is in Carrbridge, but I'm sure it won't be hard to find, not exactly a big place Carrbridge. See you all there.

Big fella! Have another one to add to the (list and another Steve - a mate not of this forum from sunny Alfreton). Babrat might make it as he will be home from Afghanistan now (needs royal approval i.e. Mrs Babrat) and Le_Big_Mac might be on for his virgin tour. So I make it 5 so far with 2 more possibles. So COME ON Ray, Eric, British_Steel, NI Biker, Oldgimmer, Glen, Strechermonkey, Hedgehog, Paul, GWilly, Paulloader, Biz, Kenny500, etc, etc Ullapool is calling you! The weather will be fabtastic (honest indjun), the company will be outstanding (gauranteed), the views will be breathtaking (also gauranteed), beer will be flowing and will be a weekend to remember (gets the touring season off to a flyer). So lets be 'aven'you at Ullapool! I CANNAE WAIT!

Ken, You are very welcome. I will be coming up from the York area and Paul (Babrat) will be travelling up from Darlington and will sort out meeting points etc in the next couple of weeks. Hi Colin
I am riding up there whatever the weather, however not gonna be a barrel of laughs if it's snowing all the way. 446 miles so I will be I like a giant snowman by the time I get there. Still I fitted heated grips so at least my hand will be nice and warm eh!
ANYWAY it's gonna be an exceptionally warm weekend - I have placed an order in with the man upstairs.
Can't wait

WOO HOOOOO!!!!! Pinch and a punch for the 1st of the month 31 sleeps to go for the Lochinver Pie Run. Ivan, you say you are setting off Friday morning, well we will be at Allenheads Inn Friday morning. From there Pam and I will be heading towards Hexham, then the A68 to Edinburgh via Carter Bar and Jedburgh. At Edinburgh I think we will call in South Queensferry (between the two bridges there's a little bistro/cafe which is good for a light bite etc etc). From South Queensferry we go over the Forth Bridge onto the M90. Around Perth we take the A9 via Pitlochry - Aviemore calling in at Carrbridge to meet Colin. From Carrbridge back on the A9 past Inverness onto the A835 all the way to Ullapool. So Ivan, if you fancy going this way (it's better than the M6), we could meet at Jedburgh OR the English/Scottish boarder at Carter Bar, so then if anyone else comes this way we can also meet at Carter Bar. So come on you lot, SIGN UP, SIGN UP. All you have to do is get on the blower and book yourself accommodation in Ullapool for Friday and Saturday night. You are all welcome and we look forward to seeing you all. So come on, make the call and confirm that booking. RIDE SMART. All the best Steveviking

30 sleeps now.......... Kenny have you sorted any digs out for Ullapool? If not have a look on this------ http://www.ullapool.co.uk/ Last year me and Pam booked into the Riverside which was very good, and the Arch Inn looks OK also. This year we're in the Royal Hotel http://www.royalhotel-ullapool.com/index.php (pushing the boat out on this one). Let us know how you get on. We can meet you on the way at Carter Bar, say 10:30 on the Friday morning, I would imagine this is local for you. All the best. RIDE SMART Steveviking
