Nope GB! But I DO remember Olympia and Brew-102 BEER!!!!
You remember Brew-102 don't cha, dude?! It was brewed right there in Downtown L.A.! And as I recall it tasting, it was probably brewed using "real Los Angeles River water" too!!!
(...though as I also recall, the "Pure Artesian Wells" that Olympia was supposedly brewed from, sure didn't make that swill taste much better!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I owned a Francis-Barnett Falcon 1959 model for a while when I was learning to ride. Part exchanged it for a Triumph Tiger 100SS once I'd passed my test.

A couple weeks ago, I might have already mentioned this, I was walking about the office with a "hitch in my gitteeup". I commented to my young co-worker, "That I felt a bit like Walter Brennan in the Real McCoys". She responded "Who's that?". I re-responded that I'd "Never met someone who didn't know Walter Brennan!" j h

I remember when women were advised to get a mammogram at age 40 then once every year thereafter.

Back in 1968 you would see an old bike outside a garage knock on the door and ask if they wanted to sell the bike and 9 times out of 10 they would say just take it. So Bantams,B33's Royal Enfeild's,Fanny Barnet's we took everything.I feel a little guilty now for wrecking so much heritage but it felt good at the time. I feel I should buy an old Brit now and give it TLC just to settle my concionce

I don't remember that. But I used to own a Benelli! Couldn't get out of its own way!
Which model of Benelli, Cindy?
Ya see, I brought that question up because I DID purchase a Benelli("Riverside") 360cc single from Monkey Ward back around 1968. And I have to say that I recall it being a great handling little bike, and really not all that underpowered either.

Dwight, I think it was the 250 (it was also called the "Riverside". Now, it was from about 20+ years-old when I got a hold of it. I don't remember how or why I got it, but I had it for a couple of years.

Remember those days !! There used to be a bike shop in East London that bought up all the old Post Office Bantam's, ex-Police Triumph Saint's, ex-Police Norton's....the place was a graveyard of old Brit bikes. You could buy a Triumph Saint, running and ready for the road for £40 and the guy that owned the shop would swop parts from one bike to another to make sure you got the best deal. The ex-Post Office Bantam's would sell for £10-£15 depending on how many scratches and dents they had !!

Yep! Monkey Wards sold a couple models of Benelli four-strokes and a couple of smaller displacement two-stroke models also, if I recall correctly. The 250 four-stroke was very similar to the 360.
I also remember that right after I purchased the "Riverside" 360, which was a street-going model, that they started selling a pretty cool Scrambler-style Benelli called the "Mojave" 360(and maybe had a 250 version also), in which that took those four-stroke singles and placed 'em in a very cool "Rickman"-style double-cradle frame and bodywork.

They were based in Stockwell, South London. Used to advertise in the Exchange and Mart every week with a whole host of old Brit iron. The East London dealer was based in Manor Park...Wells British Bike Shop. Wooden floorboards that were soaked in oil from the bikes, place looked like a junkyard, bikes crammed in so tight that you had to crawl in to see them in any detail. Heaven that place was !!!

Texaco Fire Chief. It was 102 or 103 octane. 105 was also available. I bought the cheaper stuff (a little under 100 oct) for 32.9 par gallon unless there was a gas war then it could be as low as a 24.9. Gold Bond or S&H Green Stamps plus glasses or other freebees. That was without even pumping your own gas. Cripes I'm getting old.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
