I have a 2004 Speedy. With a beautiful black shiny engine. (When it's cold).

How do you keep it shiny black (When it's hot).

I have tried all that I know and it just won't stay shiny when the engine is hot. It always looks dull.

Somebody must know the secret.

I have heard WD40 and another member here told me black shoe polish. I just keep mine clean as best I can.

My attempt at humour - but you never know - it may work.

BTW - how can you tell it's not shiny when you're riding it?

I use Pledge, the furniture wax. (not joking) it works pretty good. cheap and the bugs don't stick to it.

S100 Engine brightener. It's designed to do just what you need and works perfectly even survives a couple of washes and revives dull black cases to new
Also isn't affected by heat although you obviously apply it to a cold engine.

That stuff is great for all the plastic. Use it on Goldwings. I use spectro on the shield, but I wonder if pledge ain't the same thing. Oh, yeah, the engine thing. Sorry.

Even when your riding it's the thought that counts.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will have to see if any of the products you recommended are available in Australia.

In this land down under we are very underprivelidged when it comes to product availability of most kinds. The choice is minimal, especially where I live.

Hey Benny, I will give it a go.

I will be on Bribie Island for Christmas and New Year. I will have to catch up with you this time around. I think I still have your mobile number.
