Worth every penny. Read up about it. It's worthwhile skills training. 4-5 miles per hour, not even registering on the speedo:

I think I would rather walk it like an amateur rather than drop it trying to ride like a pro.

Got a link or author? I want to know as much as possible about proper riding skills.

So you shall, and probably drop it anyway.

I see nothing wrong with learning to be a better rider even in tight situations. I mean its not like your going to go out and do "manuvers" everytime you ride. I can say this for sure...even doing what little practicing I have done on my own in a parking lot has given me more confidence in my abilities and therefore made me a better rider.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not against training or practicing. I encourage folks to at least take a beginning rider course. I would like to take some intermediate or advanced riding courses myself at some point.
However, leaning that far without going fast enough to budge the speedometer seems like an invitation to drop a bike. I don’t mind dropping both feet in a parking lot to back my bike into a spot or to walk it to a better line for exiting around traffic. Given that it is highly unlikely that I will have to lean into a tight turn at sub 5mph speeds on a public road and that parking lots are a minimal part of my time in the saddle, it seems to me that this training is majoring on the minors.
But hey, this is just my opinion.

maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

I dropped mine trying to ride like that, while I was practicing for my Pa drivers exam. What a waste of time to learn to figure 8,but I did it and only have a dinged mirror, scuffed pipe and a scratched rear turn signal to remember it by.

Perhaps, but once you master the skill, you'll feel better about yourself. And nothing pegs the confidence meter like propping your feet up on the pegs just as you let out the clutch.
Sure beats the heck out of Fred Flintstoning it out of the parking lot.

I never said that I cannot maneuver in a parking lot, nor should one assume that I am unable to place my feet on the pegs without a running start. I just keep the bike bolt upright and steer it where I wish to go. It is the leaning at sub speeds that concern me.

Wasn't trying to bust your chops or anything, but leaning at sub-speeds, as you call them, feels cool to the core. Properly executed (and I do not claim to be expert), using nothing but rear brake & throttle, it reminds me of a roller coaster ride - with you in charge.

Now you are not going to burst into showtunes and sing the score from "Wicked" are you?

i have done quite a bit of the exercises in the RLAP 5 dvd,and being the owner of a really top heavy bike (850lbs + a fat git like myself + my good lady) they slow manouvers really help big time.the DVD is money well spent for rookie or experienced rider.

OK, so here's my 62 year old twocents. I took the RLAP last August on my '09 America, passed the course and did not drop it. What I did do, is learn some of the limits of my cycle, under controlled conditions, with competent instructors to tune up my riding style and confidence. I learned that my Triumph was capable of much more than I ever thought, and so was I. I have operated cycles for forty years, but never really ridden one till after this course. Ignorance on and of a cycle is not bliss, and will make bad things happen sooner than later. Also have the Hough book - a gem that must be added to your library this winter and read over before every riding season, without fail. Ask Santa for it. Over and Out.

Ive been riding since 1966 but I took an advanced rider course here in the UK best thing I've done with a bike, I not only learned to ride better but I also learned how to stay alive on two wheels.
