I was just watching a trailer for this film and it looks like it might be one to watch at the cinema. However it struck me that the director Roland Emmerich is also the guy that did "Independance day" and "The day after tomorrow". Do you think he might have a thing about the end of the world? In days gone by I could imagine him walking up and down the high street with a sandwich board proclaiming "the end of the world is nigh". Sooooo if we are all collectively due to pop our clogs in 2012 don't you think that they should tell someone at the Olympic committee and stop building the new stadium in London. Anyhow.... http://www.whowillsurvive2012.com/

Ahh Graham, nice to see you're still in the Uk, the actual date is Dec 21st 2012 so the Olympics will have come and gone. Which in a way is good cause we wont have to pay off the horendous debt and keep making excuses for the mess we made of it. The reason I know the date is not because I believe in all thats wierd, its my birthday. I know there are going to be countless billions of people who are a bit miffed that the world is ending but I think I have more reason than most as its going to really mess my night in the pub celebrating. I also retire three months later so not only do I have a cr**py birthday but I dont get a penny from all the cash I've saved up over thirty years. So dont complain about the end of the world to me. Hope all is well with you and Sandy all the best Chris

Oh still here Chris. Sandy is already over there sorting stuff out and I'm sorting the house out here.
Not going until next year so I'll have a couple of years in the USA before armageddon.
So 21st Dec 2012 is definetly going to be the shortest day of the year then.

I guess I max out my credit in the latter part of that year. But, boy I'll be really upset if we are still here on the 13th!

Yeah the Mayans could really see into the future ( insert sarcasm symbol). They couldn't forsee their own extinction let alone ours. But it looks like an entertaining movie.

Whoa there Cynthia.... you just reminded me of a movie I saw recently called "The Guitar." If you're into movies I recommend this one... A VERY GOOD FILM!! The theme of maxing out the cc and things NOT falling apart is a lot of what the movie is about.
Live to love, love to live.

Well THANK YOU for posting that, John! Yep, just like that Mayan dude there, I TOO am fed-up with all this "world is ending on Dec 21, 2012" thing!!! You see, according to the ancient Sumerians, what's ACTUALLY going to happen on that date is a "New Beginning"! Yep! After that date they're gonna go back to scripted television shows again and there will no longer be any "reality" shows" on TV anymore, so the THINKING Public will no longer have to be constantly inundated about the latest exploits of morons like those shmucks John and Kate and their eight little friggin' rugrats, OR have to hear about even BIGGER morons who might tell everybody that THEIR OWN little rugrat has floated away in a friggin' balloon or somethin' so they can try to get one of those stupid "reality" shows of their very own TOO!!! (yep...it'll be a new and glorious RE-BIRTH for Planet Earth alright!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I remember a Saturday morning in 1974, whilst in the middle of shaving, I heard a knock on the front door. Anyhow it was some nice, but very earnest folks sharing prophecies about the end of the world being near.
Being curious about the message, I patiently listened for about 30 minutes, whilst the shaving cream, still on the left side of my face, dried to a cake form. I also became curious if it occured to them I just might in the middle of sumpin'
Towards the end, I politely asked if I had "time" to finish shaving?? But, like I said they seemed nice enough folks. I don't think they were Mayan, but then I can't remember asking

Just like Y2K, I bet some people form companies with just the right testing equipment to test and harden your house and electrical systems when it happens. Only you will survive the big shift in the earths core. A new billion $ industry will crop up for sure. Actually the Maya were the early evangelicals. They are gone because the rapture already happened. John got confused on time lines in his dreams. We are what is left and its winding down.

I don't know, the lyric doesn't quite do it for me. But then that's just me & I relate the tune to playing American Legion baseball

It was, or It will be;
However the Mayans while quite visionary in some aspects of life, had a problem appreciating early rock 'n roll and were equally poor lyricists
They wouldn't recognize proper wordsmything if it fell off a stone ledge and hit 'em square on the noggin

One of the most important things I learned from the movie is that in 2012 Yellowstone is just outside of L.A.

The Mayans were pretty smart... We have to get a replacement calendar EVERY year! The Mayans don't have to get a replacement for Centuries! Wonder if they will still go with the stone motiff or go digital for the new one?
later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

Thats tectonics for you. In the middle ages you used to be able to walk from Dover to Nottingham during daylight hours in autumn, as long as you took the short cut via Hadrians Wall
