How cold does it have to be to say "not today". The mornings here will start in the 30's soon. Getting close for me.

I've scraped ice off my seat to ride. But, it gets a bit old.

I've rode to work in the 30's hoping for a ride home in the high 50's and all I got was mid 40's rain. That one sucked. I usually don't get to ride to work that often. Riding in the cold in the morning is worth it if the afternoon is nice.

When I was 20 I owned a 1971 Triumph Trophy 650. I bought it in Feb. and I rode in 20 degree weather. I mean what the heck, it was new I had to ride it. Now my cut off is 32 degrees F. for short distances, like to work.

45°F no heated gear less than 1 hour distance. So far with heated gloves and my Firstgear Thermo suit 40°F all day if I want. I haven't had the opportunity below that yet.

I'm going to get me a pair of those Gerbing heated gloves, the hands are what really suffer in the cold.

I rode home from work this morning, it was 37 degrees and I was wearing a T-Shirt. Not a long trip, but next time I'll bring a sweatshirt to keep the wind off. I have a high tolerance to cold compared to folks around here though.

19 degrees Period!!!!!!!!!! that's -8F at 75mph I don't want to be out below zero let alone ride and make it feel below 0F
BTW chaps don't cover everything and you realize that quickly at 19F and 75mph.

I don't have the heated stuff but I do have some pretty good cold weather gear. I cut it off at about 35 degrees F because I really hate ice when I'm on two wheels, and you never know. I'll go for local rides but not the hour plus stuff below 45 degrees or so. Above that I just dress warm and keep dry.
One of my favorites is a woman I used to work with who once asked me if the windchill bothered me on blustery days. I explained that pretty much every day is windy on a motorcycle.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Well i rhode to school yesterday and it was 32 degrees when i left the house, just wore my thermals under my jeans,my leather jacket with the liner in,my leather gloves, and a neoprene face mask, wasn't that bad,and it's a 30 minute ride to school.Besides the only other person in the motorcycle area was a 19 year old kid on 125cc moped and he told me he rhode until it got down to 10 degrees last year,so I figured i better learn to just suck it up and ride!

I don't have any heated gear, so I've found that in the lower 30s my fingers are just starting to get too cold despite the gauntlets by the time I get to work. The return trip is typically warmer, so it is worth it.
Below that, or wet, and the bike stays home. I ride for the fun of it, and the fun quotient drops too low for me if I'm shivering, wet, or worried too much about slick pavement.
That said, I don't put the bike up for winter. Last year there was never span of greater than 10 days where I could not ride. Sometimes it was only one commute in the week, but that was worth it.

Anything below 40F will not be a day of riding to work. I have ridden many times in colder weather, but it was just around town (and dry conditions).
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.
