Okay folks, it's just about time to start organising hotels, ferry/chunnel tickets etc so what is everyone doing?

At the moment I am planning on going out on Thursday 29th July and coming back about a week later (already booked the time off!!!)

As I said earlier in the thread, Andy & I found a nice place last year that is an easy ride from the port, and the same from the rally. If enough people are wanting to stay here, we can probably ask about group discount?

After the rally, I want to take a nice slow trip back ( ie not motorway) and get back to England Thursday/Friday.

What do you all think?

We are in the position where we have to rely on a third party being able to book that time off (to have the kids).
We are still waiting for the confirmation.
If that goes in our favour and health permitting, we will discuss booking ferry / chunnel / stop-offs etc.

Ok Guys,

heres a quick update.

I have booked the Complete Pension/Hotel. They have 9 Double rooms, 3 of which can be used as a 3 bed room if need be.
At the Camping park ther are also 2; 3 Bed and 1; 4 Bedrooms. These are also booked (I will bring a box Earplugs, just in case anybody snores )

I have had requests for 10Double and 3single rooms, so i will have to juggle about the rooms a bit.
Camping is not a problem.
If everybody turns up ther will be 30 of us, up until now

I have to confirm booking from the first of March.
Please let me know ASAP when your plans are clear if you havent allready done so.

Starting to look forward to this now

regards,

Nick

Well after consulting with the better half - it looks as though she may want to go as well.

I was thinking of heading off a bit earlier and have her fly to Munich airport and pick her up from there and meet you all in Braz which looks to be about a 3 hours ride.

Mind you it could turn into more than a couple of hours if I do my normal trick of disregarding road signs.

So hopefully I won't need Ade's oversized heels.

Surely Innsbruck would be easier - looks to be a straight run to Braz and only 1 1/2 hours? ( Unless you WANT to get lost?? )

Got my ticket booked.
Been checking on the price of the hotel in Mutterstadt an it's up to £60.
So i've looked at places near and on route,

http://www.landhotel-bechtel.de/index.html

http://www.booking.com/hotel/de/rhein-ne...5601#RD17625601

But if we were to carry on a bit further to Stuttgart there's loads between £30-£35.

Or there is a Formula 1 in Mannheim for 33euro

From their website - " The Lupinenstraße red light district is around the corner from the Rhein Neckar Gästehaus."

And this is a selling point?? All those red lights must make lead to loads of trafic jams. ( I has going to say "make it hard to leave", but then saw how that would read!!!!)

Even allowing for the location, for an extra €6 I would rather stay here than a Formula 1.

This is very true Shaun, however the availability of flights to Innsbruck is the issue.

I can book her a flight to Munich a lot cheaper and with a lot more choice of arrival times so although the run from there is going to be a bit longer, the benefits of going there are a lot better.

It looks to me as though the run to Munich and the run from the airport to Braz is pretty straightforward so surely even I wouldn't get lost.............famous last words.

Thanks for that Johann. If I spot you folks then be assured I will follow you.

Getting to Munich isn't a problem, just following the planes going to the airport should be straightforward. I figure if I ask at the airport in my almost perfect German "Wo ist ostrich?" I reckon I should make it to Braz with no worries. If I end up going to a local zoo or safari park then is isn't really a hardship and I'm sure there is someone there who must have been there before and can remember the way.

And remember the money I save on getting a sat nav and road maps can be better spent on booze and bratwursts.

That's exactly when they'll send you the wrong way (East/South-East).

From Munich you need to be West/South-West.

OK - my first post! Please be kind to me...

So as a former owner of a Speedmaster 900EFi but now the Thunderbird, I hopefully will be made welcome if I can fix things so I can join you all!
I mean - Braz is only 3 hours away from me - so what excuse do I have!

Well to tell you the truth - I have been requested to be the God Farther of my best friends little boy (back in the UK) - and the christening isn't yet set! So if these dates were to clash, I would have to opt for the christening (They'll only do it once - Euro Rally will hopefully reoccur).

So *crosses fingers* hopefully I'll try to join you all this summer.

First of all welcome to the site - ( even if you have swapped the slowmaster for a T'bird)

As to being made welcome, you certainly will - why we even still talk to Martyn and he doesn't even ride a Triumph anymore!! (He also used to have a slowmaster - what is it about these bikes that makes people change them??)

Re the god-parent thing, tell them you are already booked for that weekend so they have to make it another weekend.

Euro rallies occur on the 1st weekend of August each year ( this will be the 5th) and so far have been held in Germany, Sweden, Italy & Poland. The venue for the next year is normally decided at the current rally.

If anyone else wants to come along ( from any country,) you will be more than welcome.

Shaun

Lee,

Great to see you here (too)!
Like Shaun say's the Euro Rally people are a great bunch and you will fit in just right.
I can tell, I've met you personally, remember?

About the christening, get them to avoid these dates, or else you will be meetng some other Godfathers and/or their relatives.

Hope to see you there.

I've been trawling thru reasonably priced hotels, over the last few weeks, being in a popular holiday/touring area. There's very few places, ok if your traveling seperatly.
