I like the Triumph bar, gives the bike a nice fat look and I used the space between the driving lights and headlight to mount turn signals.

I don't think the Rivco will work with the Roadster style windshield.

from newspeedmaster.com I guess it will work with the Roadster screen because it looks to push the lights out in front of the lower tree instead of keeping in line

... which means the Rivco's the one to have if you want your turn signals beneath the lights and crash bars. With the Triumph light bar it's barely possible - the Rivco'd make it easy.

I'm interested in installing a pair of Piaa 005s on some upper shroud mounts. I'm not that fussy about light bars on these bikes. Something smaller in a bullet config that puts out good light...yah, that's what I want....more chrome....ahhh Christmas is coming again.

Check out Kuryakyn's halogen "silver bullets" http://www.cruisercustomizing.com You can mount them on forks or just about anywhere and they put out amazing 55 watts of light!
Is this the light you're talking about? They talk about them being 20 watt lights, not 55.

From the website: A replacement 35 watt bulb is available for use as a driving light with clear lens only. Bulb is sold separately.

As a matter of fact I was just looking at these lights from Fast Eddy Not cheap but what price quality I say. With Xmas coming up I've got some decisions to make and whilst I've changed the insert of my main headlight with a higher quality one plus bulb, and what a difference, these PIAA lights would just be brilliant. With this stuff though I just don't want to overdo my bike where it's starts looking overdone with stuff. I much prefer a minimalist look if I can achieve it but if more light is needed to see the roos at dusk (if I can't avoid riding at that time out bush), my safety and my baby come first. I could also put them within the elbow of my engine protector, making them a bit more discreet, but they also look great bolted to the fender bracket too. Decisions Decisions. I've also been told they turn night into day. Is there anyone who can provide their own experiences of this. I don't want to hijack the light bar post but we are talking about lights after all

Agreed but I would use these lights without the mounting brackets and get these brackets. Not too obtrusive and the lights compare to a 70 watt bulb each with only 35 watts of power needed. Good tradeoff.

My mistake Mountain Man, They are 20 watt but somewhere I think they are rated equivalent to 50 watts because they're hi intensity halogen bulbs - extremely bright and nice small chrome units can attach to any type bracket. When I first put them on I disconnected my headlite and there was enough lite to ride at nite w/ no problem! Here's a pic w/the lights on my crash bars: http://picasaweb.google.com/jim5968/200910Oct#5392511242884128690

I read some people don't like this, but I do... Is it your bike?
I like the clean lines of my bike, and even though form follows function and the light bar would be a great add-on for night riding, I do not like the widened view of the bike with a light bar installed.
I was looking into those little silver bullets Staffo was referring to... looked ok to me, but maybe a twin headlight would provide even better illumination, and keep the sleek lines of the bike.
Need to look into this a bit more.

Yep, I'm of much the same opinion Jeff. It's really hard to know what's the better option ie those twin lights look great for instance yet the little numbers are just so tidy.
I always prefer to talk to someone who has them already but even then if you don't know them well, you are relying on an opinion which is subjective but by the time you've bought them it's too late.
I think I'm just getting more confused than ever

An option from a site member that I set him up for and it works VERY well. So much so that I didn't go back to my own Triumph Light Bar. RIVCO Turnsignal Relocator with Driving lights I have seen guys also place lights of this sort under the bottom triple tree and they look lean down there too. eddy

Thanks Eddy, that's more to my liking. I also have been thinking of placing small enough driving lights at the spot where that tool bag is placed. Hummm... decision to make!

Not being one to pass up an opportunity to post another picture of my favorite bike, here's a look at the humble JC Whitney light bar (too closely spaced, I think, to be Ian's favorite ):

Ed, love the bike and enjoyed seeing it in person earlier this year at Barber. Did you always have the dresser bars on? You've definitely done a great job of keeping it in perfect shape.
BTW, did an incredible show with Chuck Leavell and the Randall Bramblett Band Friday night in Tuscaloosa. Got to go down as one of the top 3 in my 38 year career.

Man, Chuck's one of our hidden treasures. Great, isn't he? Yep, the bars have been on for a while...I thought the triangular shape really evoked the image of the Triumph patent badge, function and flow all at the same time.

Let's face it, it's a sh#t box. Cut your losses Ed and try and do a better job next time I respect you though for having the guts to show it anyway cos the lights look great. You must have had help with that did you? Considering you would think the same as me, are you considering buying a T-bird and stuffing it up too Sorry, I just thought I'd talk crap again. There must be a name for it and I'm sure one of you nice people will be able to describe why lack of sleep leads to disfunctional thinking, and don't say something like, you're always like that staffo

I had the same bar until it cracked. Then I took a Triumph OEM bar and cut those tabs off...looks good now and much more sturdy.

Hey there Ed... that does look good on your bike... so at the good ol' JC Whitney website they list a 'Show Chrome' and 'National Cycle' light bar. I'm thinkin' you went with the 'Show Chrome'... that true?

Wow, that looks GREAT!!
What was necessary to mount the passing lamps after trimming the bar?

I had done the JCW (JC Whitney) mod that Sandman outlines on his web page...he lists part #s and everything you need. CLICK HERE . Since the JCW bar didn't last I tossed the actual bar but everything else was re-used. P-clamps, light buckets, wiring, etc... Later I upgraded to Adjure Tri-bar lights and eventually came across a set of Triumph light buckets for a slightly better match.
sorry...I got a bit long winded there.

The '07 receipt says catalog item #012006, $149.00, no brand listed. Man, I like Zdenko's set up better than mine; his spacing is better but still close and I'll bet the bar is higher quality as well. Something to think about for sure...
Sorry to fall down on the job Staffo, I'll give it a better go next time around

Yeah, well just watch it fella cos anyone who tries (and succeeds) to make their bike look better than mine is just asking for it. Actually now that I can think straight after a couple of shocker night shifts, and can actually sound half with it, I ended up buying a number of gizmos off FES. There is just so many different top quality lights out there and because of the cost, you don't want to think later "MMM, wish I'd spent my money on that". To be honest, after taking my stock light apart earlier this year and finding the rubber grommet basically fall apart in my hands, I said right, I need a descent headlight where I can actually see where I'm going at night. So I bought a $70 7" insert (like Hella quality) with a good bulb and what a difference. I have now just ordered this bulb and will see how well it goes. Honestly, like many of you guys over in the states with Deers and whatever, even with great lights you just shouldn't be on the road at night. I don't know exactly how bad it is but we had an Aussie over your way just in the last month or so doing the "Iron butt" thing and unfortunately he hit a deer and died. So anyway, between Dusk and Dawn it's literally like some cartoon where all the little (and big) creatures are saying "hey c'mon, lest play on the road" I've been caught out a couple of times now where we didn't get to our Hotel before dark and it was like a zoo with creatures playing chicken So in saying all this, the better you can light up the road ahead, if you do have to ride in the dark, I suppose the more time you'll have to take evasive action. Even then though, they come out of no where where even the best light ever made isn't going to make any differnece.
