Was talking to my brother about this and that and up came the idea of making a 2-1 exhaust mod (in SS of course). I know that some Bonneville riders have done this but can't recall any on a TBA or SM. Could be quite cool IMHO. Thoughts?

I would like to see something like this too Bengt. The only drawback would be the need for custom made header pipes. There might also be a power increase benefit but, until someone tries it we will never know. I sent a request for info to D&D to see if there was any other interest in this. Will post a reply when I recieve one.

Yes, exactly my thoughts. This could be a fun winter project if I could come up with a good enough idea for the design. Maybe with a single Supertrapp muffler (did I just write that?) on the right side?

I think it was trboam with a home made setup, and it made a pretty good gain in power

ive done the 2-1 on my america. i am still running the pipes and really like the sound.
this winter i am going to re do the design, i figure with a little tweeking i should be able to get more ponies out of her.
our wonderful economy stalled my work on this project. so ive been picking up bits and pieces to make it work this winter.
im looking at 2" pipes with a 2" glass pack type muffler.
if you are interested i will keep you up on the progress this winter.

Steve, good to hear that you are continuing with your project. I recieved an answer from, D&D exhaust but it is pretty non-commital. They don't say which models of Triumph they are working on: Quote:
Tony At this time the R&D is working on several things for Triumph but it will be the first of the year before they will have something keep an eye on the website.

Ive actually considered a 2-1 including headers, with the pipe centered under the motor but 2 things squashed the idea. A) I don't scrape pipe as it is; if Im down that low my R1 pegs have already caught asphalt and pulled me down and B) I would lose precious ground clearance because theres no space wide enough for a pipe on either side of the motor inside the frame rails. Now my gears are turnin again tho.. maybe around the motor, come together where the airbox was, and under the fender... hmmm...
