Hello to everyone, been lurking for a few weeks, but now is the time to make my first post. I'm taking my CBT in a few weeks, then onto the DAS, and will be hoping to have my licence for the begining of the new year........ the reason why is below!!!

I will be touring next year and want to make sure I have spec'd it right.

Love the look of the America, but prefer the idea of twin disks upfront on the Speedy. Also, I have already enquired, thanks BlueNose, into having the bars from the America fitted. I want it for comfort!

Spec i'm looking at :-

Speedmaster in Phantom Black & NE White
Crome Silencers
Saddlebags
Light Bar & Kit
Engine Dresser Bars
Fly Screen
Gunfighter Seat
Sissy Bar - Tall
Tacho
Highway Pegs & Kit
Tank Cover

Any thoughts?

Le Big.

forget tank cover it will damage paintwork!!!!!!! there is no problem with single disc on america never had a braking problems with one disc!!!!!!1 twin discs on speedmasters are over rated and if you need to change pads or discs there is always price x2

Hey Big Mack, welcome to the forums. Don't mind the occasional comment from the insane asylum here that might be off colour. (Note the "u" in colour )

I prefer the looks of the Speedy but the America has a larger front fender to help prevent road splash. I like the pillion seat on the America with the tall luggage rack. The asthetics on the Speedy aren't the best IMO when the rack is included with the Speedy seat. Passengers might complain about the Speedy pillion also.

If you want the Speedy and will be riding one up, get the single seat and the rear fender rack along with the saddle bags. Looks more streamlined.

Welcome to the site and the bike! I really like my gunfighter seat, but having said that, I have an iron butt and the passenger had better be small and tough!

Thanks Guys for the welcome!!!

Some good point's here. I am going to look into and see if there is a front brake upgrade kit for the America. This will defo make me go back to the America instead of the Speedy.

No passengers gonna be riding with me so I only need to worry about my own rear!! Is the gunfighter seat harder than the standard seat? Don't want a numb bum!!

Cool bike. I love the color scheme. My Triumph Teck, Andy, at Moto 4000 in Dawsonville, Ga, rides a Speedy. He was also intrumental in selling me my America. He advised me the same amount of braking power on the caliper on the single disc is merely spread out among the 2 discs on the speedy. I have never lacked for braking power. I do think the slash pipes and the dual discs look better, I suggest the low backrest. It looks better.I use a Roadster fairing. Doesn't look as cool as the small one on your photo, but it sure protects the rider. It will creat buffeting at 70 plus mph. Use Dupont multipurpose lube on your chain from Lowes. $5.00 a can and is primo stuff. Do stay with Mobile One. Andy says to stay with the semi-synthetic at the 500 change. I went with the fully synthetic as the service mgr at another dealor advised it. He convinced me the motor had been broken it at 500. I think it was since I rocked it between 3000 and 5000 with an occasional jump to 6500 on an interstate. Finally- stay away from all those mods. We guys like to monkey around with an excellent design and pay the price. Mine is unmodified. It starts great. It warms up great. It idles great. Smooth wide power band. 45 mpg. If you're into problems modify.

2008 BA, Ageon Blue, roadster shield, light bar. tach, big bags, square engine guard, short sissy with rack. All Triumph parts. No mods.

Welcome to the site! There are a LOT of real good folk on here that aren't stingey with advice or opinions. Which ever bike fits you best is the one to go with.

That being said, please answer a question for me... Why don't you fill out your info so we know more about you?? That way we don't think your just a flake, and it gives us more info to give you our best answer. If you've lurked for a while, you should have seen how straight foward we are here.

So the you are, my info and opinion...

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

Fake or flake mate?!!! Your entitled to your opinion as much as I am entitled to not putting up my details!

I can assure you I'm not a fake, however, I'm am partial to eating a flake now and again!

First test is set for the 14th Nov, DSA Theory on the 19th and the the big bike modules will follow. Should have the licence for the middle of December.

You could also just stick on a 4 pot caliper. It's cheaper than twin disc conversion, saves on pads as well . Gives you all the stopping power you'll ever need.

Well, nearly there with the bike tests, just my Mod 2 to go, so with this in mind I have gone and bought a 2010 America - 2 tone blue and white.

Note the new style clock! Looks like the ones on the Rocket. White on black dial with a digital odometer.

What a day!!

Had to ride my 125cc up to York for my friend, Bluenose. He wanted it for his next 'project' now I have passed and got myself a Triumph! Good luck to his son and his adventure in becoming a biker!

Bike delivered and gut full with a yorkshire breakfast and it was me riding 'b1t1ch' on his Thunderbird the 15 or so miles to A1Moto.

Hand over was a little eventfull, thank's to computers and the normal service they do not provide, and then it was the walk around. Getting a little nervous now...

Finally it was time to go, and with the nerves at a frenzy I set off. What was I worried about, she looked after me (its now known as bonnie) and as the first mile slipped by I was already feeling at home.

Fast-forward to my 80 mile ride home, after doing 50 or so miles around York, and it was as if I had owned it for months!

I will put up some pics soon.

Finally, Ivan, thanks for all of your support and for today. You really are a true friend and I shall always remember that.

Roll on tomorrow and June!

My first ride in nearly 20 years was on an America, a test ride round Brum, it was that good I bought one there and then . I had to wait on delivery though.

When she turned up, it was like I'd never been out of the saddle.

Just be careful of those Teflon tyres
