Recently my speedometer has been stopping and going to zero intermittently. The odometer still turns but the speedo quits. It restarts on it's own eventually or if I smack the face of the speedo. Anyone else had this problem? It started when I disconnected the cable to change the front tire.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Remove the cable from the speedo and push the inner cable down. It probably isn't seated in the drive hub of the front wheel.
