I just posted a radio ad I did for my buddy who's running for Helena City Commission. So do I have a future in radio? http://www.ellisonforcitycommission.org/media-update/ (last MP3 file)

John....im gonna give this to you straight.... You have an honest and sincere voice....well done there....actually your parents probably deserve the kudos there. What I dont like is this....you read it like you were getting laid for the first time....it was fast and hard. Slow down, breathe and easy does it. Not so hard...now go back and try it again.

GEEEZ Lester! As you may know, I've been the one to PERSONALLY take on the slings and arrows of THAT "campaign" to keep politics out of this website MYSELF very recently.
(search for my "Okay then...COOL!" thread for more information about THAT, if you'd like)
HOWEVER Dude, I seriously doubt, NO check that, I KNOW that this thread's INTENT is NOT to interject "politics" into this website, but in fact is OBVIOUSLY ONLY a request by John to see how we feel about his VOICE and PRESENTATION on the RADIO!!!
And because none of us other than John here live in Montana in order to be "swayed" by an "opinion" about this candidate, AND because no "opinions" of any issues the candidate he's shilling for here were being discussed in any manner at all here, OR the candidate's party affiliation for that matter, that leads me to this OBVIOUS conclusion.
(and I'm seldomly wrong, ya know)
And BTW John, I think you did a fine job there.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Maybe a little makeup and a tummytuck... !
Ha! I remember a female CBC Radio talk show host way back that had the most sultry, seductive, sensuous voice on earth (Vicky Gabriel for all your Canadians) and I, well... I conjured up a fitting image of her in my mind. Later on in her career she moved to CBC Television and... Can you see where this story might go? That's right, my bubble burst and I stopped listening to her programs all together (not true but added here for dramatic emphasis).

Yup... what Z said. Slooooooooooooow 'er down a bit. Just kinda sounds like yer trying to pack as much as you can in that 30 seconds. Try speaking unnaturally slow... it'll play back better than you might think. Otherwise I found your voice pleasing to the ear... no probs there!

Most certainly. It may have been a bit rushed (probably time constraints) and the "joins" may have been too close together between phrases (but that's technical anyway) I would say the voice in itself is excellent for radio.

Why KEITH...I had NO idea that you were so....so "shallow", DUDE!!!
(this was ALSO added for "dramatic emphasis" here too, BTW!)

Yeah John... I was kinda wondering 'bout that myself. Didn't wanna say anything 'till you chimed in being that Dwight's statement is 'closer to home' for you. But you know... he did say 'seldom' and not 'never.'

Why JOHN, "freedom" that is....I don't believe that YOU were "around" here and in this discussion until AFTER I made that comment, sir!!!
(ya SEE how it's done folks?!!!...yep, but ya sure gotta give 'em credit for tryin' to catch me in somethin', DON'T CHA???!!!)

Now the way I read that last post o' yers there Dwight (what with reading between the lines and all) is I'd have to say it came off like you're trying to wiggle yer way outta something that doesn't have a door. Just between us old(er) farts around here... it's okay to admit you were wrong. I was wrong once too ya know!!!

And KEITH, I'm SURPRISE at you for not considering that OBVIOUS rationale for my previously stated logistical observation above!!!
(and so it really didn't matter IF I said "seldomly" OR "never" there, now DID IT???!!!)

Well then, here's ya another thing to consider on my BEE-half here, Keith ol' boy.
I've known John(and once again, I'm talkin' about "FREEDOM" John here, ya understand) for what seems like EONS now, and I KNOW that John(once again "FREEDOM" John) is one of the quicker wits around these here parts. And because I KNOW how smart John(once again that "FREEDOM" John here) IS, I know that he could figure out IMMEDIATELY that John's(and NOW I'm talkin' about FRIAR John here) thread is not "political" in intent AT ALL!!!
(I know, I know, sometimes "Dwightish" IS kind'a hard to understand, but I KNOW you're smart enough ALSO to get MY intent here TOO!!!)

I had to get it all done in 23 second. If you want to hear really fast reading listen to Dan's.

The joins were tight for time and to cut out my sharp inhalation of breath between each sentence.

John... I'm a musician as you by now know... and I have learned a lot of tricks in the studio environment. That and I trained back in the day to be a radio announcer (look... when you've lived to my age, Gawd hope you've done a bunch, else you've lived a sheltered life) so I got some tips on how to make your presentation EFFECTIVE!! In your case you got a voice the works... so now all you gotta do is work on the delivery. Just slooooooooow down and you got 'er!!!! That's it!!

I've worked a couple stretches in radio throughout the years. I loved it, but for me there was no career ladder. I discovered that in order to be succesful. it was more "who you know" rather than the quality of the show you did.
