I wasn't trying to make anything political. I am tired of hearing about inferior Chinese products invading our country however. To make this story a little worse, it said that most of the "infected" homes were in the southeast states, traditionally "right to work" states. Meaning people are paying a premium for houses built by mostly imported labor working on visa (or illegally) using the cheapest BS materials that the good for nothing contractor can get away with using. As a carpenter who takes a lot of pride in his work, I find it sickening. But keep buying Chinese crap everyone, poison your kids, your pets, your homes. And the insurance companies won't help, not that they should for warranty work, but the contractors can just jump town and be off to screw someone else.

I know, I know what you're sayin' here Dave, BUT just LIKE what I was tryin' to get across to some folks around here a few days ago, you HAVE to know that these kinds of rants(and sorry ol' buddy, that what I think this thread is here) will very often turn "political" just because this topic not only involves a consumer product, BUT also because it involves the topic of a foreign country and their political stances and how our government does or should conduct business with them.
And so, I think if you re-think this whole thing, you might be able to find a more suitable website for your opinion....of which BTW, I DO somewhat agree with you.

Cheaper is rarely better!! We need to cut ties with China, they have been giving us nothing but dangerous crap for years.
I usually make no comments in threads like this but after reading the story and watching the news clips Im in agreement with you Dave...at least on banning product from China.
First the toys that were painted with lead based paints and now drywall that literally rots your house from the inside out.
I forgot to add...the builder/supplier/whatever needs to be held accountable to this at least in part. Touchy subject here...if they knew or didnt know etc...

Less we forget whose buying our paper, this has alot more to do with insurance companies and material suppliers than contractors and labor. China definitly has a quality control problem.

Seriously guys......I can personally attest...finding anything made here (USA) is virtually impossible. The other day I LOOKED for a USA made paint brush, finally found a Purdy brush...the rest were Hecho in Mexico or stamped China. Our country has a corporate tax rate second only to Japan and don't get me started on worthless regulations..I just had an OSHA inspection today. Looking at my taxation and regulation hurdles, if I could, I would consider moving my business to Mexico or even Canada as their system is now more business friendly than ours , supposidly the land of free enterprise. I love this country but the politicians and bureaucrats are killing us. after all it is not government that hires people it is business and the cost of doing business it getting higher and higher. Dave , I feel your pain and have several friends out of work in the energy (oil) industry because "they" wont let us drill our own oil right here ! There is also a whole valley in California of out of work people (30,000+) because irrigation water was shut off by bureaucrats to protect a minnow and lets not forget our logging industry and finally our dry wall producers. All beat to death by taxes & regulations and those taxes and regulations cost jobs, my friends jobs and maybe eventually mine too. It is time for us to tell the politicians, STOP ..We need to build things in this country not burdon the ones that are the builders ! ....I'm not being partisan I'm being American. viva la revolution'

And baseball for some.
Baseball where the pitcher actually has to pick up a bat, like the game was intended to be played. I didn't realize Pete Seegar also played ball, besides penning tunes. He looked like a right fielder. Could have been a shortstop, but the nervous double-clutch forced him to miss too many runners at first.

Vote with your wallet. Many are fed up, but then we run out and shop on price. We make the biggest and cheapest bigger bolstering their purchasing power and they in turn beat producers to outsource for cheaper production elsewhere. Consequently, the locals go out of business. We are doing it to ourselves. Shop local as much as possible and when you do, pay in cash (transaction fees). You vote multiple times a day-- with your wallet. Economics, not politics.

The DH is one of the most obtuse rules that ever came along. At least the NL hasn't caved yet. The infield fly rule, I can understand, it makes the game more competitive, but the DH is for sissies. And it has no place in the World Series either . Allowed only in AL home games...what a buncha maroons. A freeway series yeah, that would be great

Oh boy, We have to buy Chinese, the unions broke the back of American manufacturing. We can't afford to make stuff here anymore. We produce Japanese cars, Korean cars, some American cars and Motorcycles. Oh, we produce bankers, and telemarketers too. Just like they don't manufacture in England anymore. Its a global economy, buy from the cheapest labor market you can find with no air or water pollution controls, and no labor laws. National pride in manufacturing is for old romantics. Its all about the bottom line. I have been yelled at with this chant for a while now " Its a global economy! " So whats a little smelly drywall in the big scheme of things. It kept the cost down

er... so have we stopped manufacturing (some of) the Triumph range of motorcycles here now?
As already mentioned, the need to manufacture in low cost countries is driven by us, the consumer demanding lower prices.
By the way, the company i work for has 2 manufacturing plants in China (as well as Germany, Portugal and USA). There is no difecernce in the quality of the product coming from any of these plants.

There is always a very small conspiracy scepticism in the back of my mind for alot of things. (Let the jokes begin) I was at a security briefing in 2000 at KSC that the speaker (name eludes me) discussed the Chinese agenda. He made it very clear that the Chinese were a centuries old society/culture whos ultimate goal was world conquest. He was adament that the current climate was just slightly dormant for their cause, and they were very patient. In that light, I wonder just how 'accidental' all of the dangerous products from China really is. I saw the UFO in Colorado yesterday, so now I'm waiting for physical evidence of Big Foot and Nessie! later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

what kind of outcome did you expect when Kershaw lost location in the 5th with walks and wild pitches, they scored 5 runs on 3 hits. Torre should have pulled him sooner.

My brother, a big union guy, always rants about this. He was upset when I used a highlighter on the data plate on his pickup to highlight the words "Assembled in Mexico." We all talk about it. But until a significant percentage of the population is willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, it will not change. Of course, here we are on a site devoted to an English motorcycle.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Okay Keith! I'll grant ya that the topic of music is a heck of a lot better and a MUCH more calming topic than what people should or shouldn't buy that's made in You-know-where, OR maybe even baseball.
HOWEVER, I gotta say that that "wimpy" song you picked to help divert some of "our" attentions just AIN'T cuttin' it here, ol' buddy!!!
And SOOOOOOOO, I got an old song for ya RIGHT HERE that I think might juuuuuust be a little better suited to the occasion here....it was by The Yardbirds, BTW.....
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Cars and girls are easy come by in this day and age laughing joking drinking smoking till I've spent my wage. When I was young people spoke of immorality all the things they said were wrong are what I want to be.
