I remember when my Yamaha 360 enduro was considered a beast! Sportster off road. Too much bike for me in the dirt! But it looks good,

Yeah Soren! I think I know what you're talkin' about here! Might you mean somethin' a little like THIS .... http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/motorcycle-reviews/steve-mcqueen-metisse-triumph-replica.aspx...BUT maybe with lights, and of course, a modern Bonnie motor???

Either one o' them bikes you guys brought to our attention are pretty cool. I've thought about the new Scrambler so I'd have something to snort around on the bush roads 'round here but no... that bike is too big and too pretty for back country riding.
Live to love, love to live.

My first offroad bike looked a lot like this except that it had the big black tank and fenders.

Alright if you say your dad rode you on the tank of it 8 years before you started riding it yourself, THEN its a coincidence...haha

Although not the original bike that I had, it looked exactly the same painted in red. Drove it on anything I could find which included gravel bush roads. Never really took it anywhere extreme. The original mufflers were replaced with shorties that made a lot of pleasant noise to my ears (at the time). I painted the bike a shade of green that closely resembles the Triumph scrambler now. When I sold the bike, the new owner purchased it because of the exhaust note. He painted it a royal blue. I purchased it for $650 and sold it for $637.50 2 years later. Lot of fond memories from the ride and wished i still had it. I'll share one with you. Went for a ride with my girlfriend after the paint job and refill of the primary chaincase. Travelled about 50 miles to a park. Both of us were dressed in our blue jeans, dark green leather highschool jackets and green helmets (we were a matched set). When we got to the park, I realized that I had overfilled the chaincase when we saw the black streak on my girls back from the chain oiler. Man, she wasn't happy.

Gregger - you keep teasing me with that thing. I bought the same bike(proper red colour) new in 1970 for $995. What a rip-snorting ride that was...
Fourty years on the girl that rode pillion is still with me. I'll have to look and see if she still has the scar on her knee, or was that from the go-karts? Maybe I won't bring it up.

Bill, I totally forgot about your ride. What did you eventually do with it? I rode my bike for at least 2 months before I ever had a license or insurance (totally brain dead at the time). Just 6 days after getting my license et al, a cager pulled a left cutting me off and I plowed into the side of his car, destroying the forks and front wheel. The front end was completely rebuilt. Got rid of a high speed wobble I had. Remember getting thrown over the handlebars once starting the beast. Also remember the Lucas electrics...hit the horn and kill the engine. Man it was fun to ride. Don't miss the oil slick though. What was this thread about....

Hey Soren, while I was perusin' Bill's cool new thread "classic bike review" in this forum, I happened to spot in it's website link another picture of a TR5T in it.
And while I realize this picture below may not be quite as large or maybe even as clear, I was just wonderin' here if it would be okay with you if we could maybe replace your picture of that particular model scrambler above with the one below... because for "some reason" I find THAT ONE just a little nicer to look at!!!

I had it for one glorious summer. I was a yute at the beginning of the 70's with a long-haired girl and a red motorcycle.
The bike got stolen that fall but I've still got the girl.

Screw all that. What Triumph SHOULD do is hire me as a test rider, since I represent the majority of Americans and I can put my fatarse on all their motorcycles (not at the same time--it isn't THAT big) to see how they hold up in extended use.

Nice! When I was in high school there was one guy that had a BSA 441 Victor. Cool thumper!
I'd like to see Triumph make a smaller street bike on the America style in 400 - 500cc so my wife would get one and ride with me.
