Went and saw Zombieland today. Not too bad at all. Had some pretty funny moments.

I'm probably gonna go see it. It looks totally weird! But I'll bet this isn't gonna be a date move. My wife would totally not appriciate it!

I do have that sense of humor, and it was alright. It didn't have that "hook" that the other successful movies in this genre have nor is it necessary to see on the big screen. The actors helped the studio quite a bit in my opinion. I don't envision the day where I will proudly proclaim that "I saw it in the theatre."

I call BS. It was awesome.

I would ask that other commenters do not spoil the big cameo of the movie.

Your calling BS on my opinion and referring to it as "awesome?" OK, I think I would go with Soren's "not too bad at all" call. It was alright. I am not angry about the spent money (which is saying a good deal about the movie considering the nonsense being shoveled our way these days) nor do I think it was a waste of time. I am calling BS on "awesome."

I want to know why zombies never (no matter what movie) go after each other?

Well there not cannibals, one would think they're a step up from that sort of behavior

If they ate each other that would just be sick.

I saw it last week. I gave it a B+.
Ups:
- Good zombie carnage scenes
- some of the humour was good
- Woody Harrelson was very good.
- time-wise, the length of the movie was just right.

Downs:
- the 1st person dialogue didn't work for me
- Too much humour
- not enough suspense

For me the "28 Days" pair was the zombie benchmark.

Whoops, sorry. It's been "co-rec-ted" as Grady said in "The Shining".

28 Days was a drama suspense movie. Zombieland is not a movie to take serious, but to have fun with, without getting into retard or slap stick humor.

Yeah, Zombies are the only thing they have in common. Different (sub)genres entirely.

The interesting thing is that the cameo personality was originally supposed to have a much more limited role, and in interviews the cast and crew has said there are TONS of outtakes. I can't wait for the DVD. Originally they wanted Dustin Hoffman but he was unavailable.

From anyone who thought Shaun of the Dead was great.
Is it along the same lines, or as good as?

I thought Shaun was better, it had more suspense. I thought the humour was more clever and limited. I gave "Shaun" a solid "A".

Shaun of the Dead was much funnier, but a different type of movie as it was more of a spoof.

Nothing will ever beat Shaun of the Dead. It was nearly perfect.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Shaun of the Dead was the only Zombie movie that might be considered even remotely intellectually stimulating.....

And at times it actually made the viewers "smile"

Zombieland was pretty darned good - just about exactly what you'd think from the promos, maybe a bit better.

For zombie humour though, "Shaun of the Dead" is my favorite. On a more literary plane, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" looks like fun.

Actually that suprised me, the trailers do not show all the best parts of the movie for a change.

Great point, don't you hate it when they do that? Which seems to be frequent these days.

I saw Zombieland two weeks before it came out at a free screening. I give it a solid B in the ZomCom genre.

I prefer Fido , then Shaun of the Dead, but that's a close race.

The same week a movie called Dead Snow a Norwegian ZomCom. It was playing at an arthouse theater here. I liked it more than Zombieland.
Dead Snow
Check it out when it comes out on DVD. If you like the ZomComs, I think you will like it.

Cheers,
~Brent
