Just watched that clasic film again and it reminds me so much of my old dad,He died 11 years ago but he was one of that breed that fixed every thing and if it coulcn't be fixed he'd make it,In the war and after he was an aircraft technician. He rode motorcycles and one of my earliest memories is being in the sidecar with my mum and brother while my sister sat on the back of the bike.In the forties when he met my mum he rode a Brough with the 1150 ohv Jap motor and my mum still reminds me sometimes that he rode from York to Londen in two hours and that was in 1948

just want to say Anthony Hopkins who stars as Burt Munro in the film was born in a place called Tai Bach in Port Talbot, WALES, just 3 miles from where I live. also Richard Burton was born in Pont rhyd-y-fen 5 miles from here. thats as close as i'll ger to being famous.
I ride a 2006 America.

Great movie. I bought the DVD after seeing it. The DVD has a full copy of the documentary done by the same director years before on Burt Monro. You see the real guy and realize what an incredible job Anthony Hopkins did. Anthony Hopkins said it was his favorite of the movies he made.
It's not really a motorcycle movie in the same since Cinderella Man is not just boxing movie. Nothing like surreal characters they were actually real.

Well now - I have had many merry time in the various rugby clubs in your neck of the woods! I'm a Rugby League man but played with my Union mates on a few mini tours in South Wales.
Anyway not seen the film but bought it on Amazon for less than £5 as I have been told so many times about it. Should be here tomorrow.
