Saturday afternoon ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Pisgah Inn for coffee. Riding thru the parking lot when someone starts backing out of their parking space. I hit the brakes hard and the bike goes down with me after it. I end up face first into the pavement with my left leg twisted up in the bike. I'm down and am yelling for someone to get the bike off my knee and I hear others yelling "stop! stop! Apparently the driver was continuing to back up and stopped just inches short of me. From what I heard from witnesses he opened his door, looked back, shut his door again and took off. Ambulance took me down the hill and now I'm laid up with 2 pins in my tibia and wires adjoining the major tendons to the appropriate bones. Tan Subaru SUV.. someone got the plates so I am just waiting to hear.
I'm not gonna preach but the helmet saved my life.

DANG, Chris! Sorry to hear of this!

Well, at least somebody got the license number of that "oh so caring" individual who left the scene anyway.

(heal up quickly dude!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dang man! Glad it wasn't worse! I'm still healing from getting a rod and screws in my tibia, so i can understand what you're going through. Hope you heal up nicely and get back in the saddle soon.

The weather was beautiful up on the BRP last weekend. Sorry to hear a great day ended the way it did. I was up by Devil's Courthouse and came back via 276/ Caesar's Head. I was tried and thankful to get behind a horse trailer for a bit. We passed a sport bike that went down and slid into the rail. The rider was being loaded up as I passed.

Respect the mountain... even the parking lots.

Holy crap man... what an ordeal. It's like rubbing salt in the wound to know the driver just took off. Hope you have a quick and complete recovery.

Hate to say it but since contact was not made between the vehicles you hay have no recourse against this wopping great wad of f**k. A friend had a similar accident and that is what he was told.

The only recourse is he may be in violation of leaving the scene of an accident. And if proved he they may get him on causing an accident. Just depends on how the laws are worded in your state. Either way, glad your ok

Man I hate to hear it.
I hope you will not be down for too long, but I
have no idea how long such things take to heal.
