What a day! The Ride to the Wall from Drayton Manor was something else! People lined the streets and on bridges, clapping and cheering. 1000's of bikes fantastic effort! They came in their 1,000's To honour the fallen It was a moving experience - this was the monument for those executed for suffering shellshock including kids as young as 17 - it was called Shot at Dawn! Spitfire fly past was a bit special (someone missed it) Paul (Babrat), Chris, Steve (VikingSteve), Pam, Paul (Paul) and Jahel it was good to share the moment with you! Cheers Gordie - pipers played before and after the service - outstanding! Many Scots had made the journey as you can imagine. Very special day indeed!

Just got back from Windsor.
Thank you to Ivan for posting the ride. So glad we went on it, and delayed our trip to Windsor. Probably one of the most moving rides I have ever done. Got a lump in my throat when we pasted the Vets at the side of the road, that were clapping us!!
Ivan, except for the last one - great pictures!!!! Steve and Pam should get that one framed.
Paul,Ivan,Chris,Steve and Pam, thank you for a memorable day.
Paul.

What a well organised event. First guesses of around 6000 bikes turned up on the day. The National Memorial Arboretum is a special place to remember the fallen from all the conflicts that the British and former Empire service personnel have served or are serving. Definately marked on my calendar for next year. Good to ride with Ivan(Bluenose), Viking Steve, Paul and co. I will try and get over the embarrassment of having to be push started in front of a gaggle of HOGS outside the pub That'll teach me to Uprate my spots to 55W and end up draining my battery Paul

Funny you should say that you got a lump in your throat when you passed the vets Paul.
The cats get the same experience when I take them there for their jabs.
Otherwise, it looked quite a good day out but had loads of stuff to sort out over the weekend....the house isn't going to pack itself up unfortunately.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

DeNero me old mate shame you couldn't make it! Here is a few more pics... Old BlueNose himself with a rather scuffy T'Bird (wet muddy roads early morning ment that she wasn't looking her best). Come to think of it I am not looking too clever either but their is not much I can do about that eh! [image] [/image] Chris and Steve (VikingSteve) taking a walk in the woods And what it was all about....Shot at Dawn Memorial that is gripping - these lads were as you as 17!!! This event is a must from here on in.
