Has anyone replaced their seat on a Speed Master /America for one that is a bit more comfortable. The original one is a bit harsh on the old backside after a couple of hours on the bike.

I really like my Corbin, a bit pricey but well worth it. IMO

My butt hurt too after around 70 or 80 miles. Got a Corbin and absolutely wouldn't go back. It's a harder seat but it's more comfortable. As Iceman said, it is pricey but worth it.

I had my seat doen by a local guy thats well known for seats...I love it BUT it was pricey $$$$. Richs custom seats

For Karens bike we sent her seat to Spencers seats. Much more affordable and she loves it. A great day to ride

Rick Mayer Cycle is your solution. http://www.rickmayercycle.com/
Have had my seat since 2003 and it is excellent.

I've ordered a solo gel seat, so hoping that will be comfy. Will let you know

Z that company looks impressive. I'll have to really consider them the next time I need a seat done.

This place will redo your stock seat & even add gel fairly cheap.

I'll be sendin' mine to 'em in another month or so...

Considering I didn't know any descent upholsterers or seat fixer upper ers, and I really wanted the backrest, I bought the corbin combo.

Yes, they do take a couple of thousand k's to really mould to your bot bot but, once they do it's all plain sailing from there. I also use the backrest to hold part of my luggage, namely a Ventura bag - Life's good.

I put on a Corbin, but it's too hard for a long days riding (300 miles or more) so I have an Airhawk for the longer rides. The backrest on the Corbin is GREAT.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

The Corbin backrest is the shiznit, but these days I only use it if I'm leaving town for more than a few hours.

I think it's important to deal directly with whatever vendor you choose so they can tailor the seat to your size, weight and riding style. If you're gonna pay the money, get it done right the first time. I got the default configuration on my Corbin solo and had to send it back for retooling.

Larry, I too found the Corbin a bit hard for the first few thousand kilometres and like you bought a airhawk.

I should have waited for just a bit longer though, as most of the advice on here had told me to, cos since that last long ride where I used the airhawk, I haven't had any need to use it since. It just needs a bit of time to soften up and mould to your own shape.

Saddlemen makes a Gel pad you can place under your cover or comes with "sheep" skin cover, just went for a short put with one and it seems rather nice. Don't know that I'll get a long ride in again these year..but I'll give it a road test. They are not too expensive.

I sent my seat to Spencer at Good Day To Ride as well. He was able to lower it about an inch and I had the gel added. I have no complaints. It looks and feels way better and a good price.

Airhawk helps a bunch, but the Corbin is better. For me, anyway, YMMV. Always been curious about the beadrider "pads." Seems like the iron butt peeps swear by them.

One more here for Spencer's seat mod. Night and day from stock, but still looks like the stock seat. Much more in my price range than a corbin.

The corbin with a backrest really is the go. Trust me and all those before me too. Yes, not cheap but worth the extra dough
