I actually thought it was impossible to wheelie a shaft-drive bike. The rocket bith that big honking engine seems especially unlikely.

The Triumph factory stunt rider (can't remember his name) has been doing wheelies on these since day 1.

I have to give that one three drooling homers.
I never cared too much for the RIII until now.

Certainly is impressive and tempting. Of course, if as in the past, Triumph won't have any for test rides until 2012 or so....

I had my R3T off the ground on back road from Randle up to Mt.St.Helens..not intentionally...traveling in the shadows about 35 when hit "frostheave" in road and went airborn..survived but not recommended..when/if I ever develop skills to ride like that guy and corresponding insanity returns then I will post personal video(not likely to happen)
life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

It is a nice bike but I'm a touring over power person and I think the America or Thunderbird would be better miles per tank vehicles. Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to have heard that the America and Thunderbird get close to 200 miles per tank while the Rocket III ranks in at over 50 miles per tank below that.

I had an R90/S that was hard to keep the front down, and that only made 55 HP. It's all in the balance of the design.

I don't know anyone getting 200 miles per tank on an America. Maybe if they weight 100 lbs., carry no gear or accessories, ride 55mph and ride an EFI bike. I'm huge, have tons of crap on my carbed bike, ride like a Neanderthal. I'm lucky to get half that many miles per tank.

I think with the 5.1 gal tank on the new Americas it would be possible to get 200-225 per tank if you averaged 45mpg. The Thunderbird has a 5.8 gal tank and I hear from the T-bird site that they are getting 45-50 mpg. You are talking 260 or so until a dry tank. The R-3 is another story. I heard average is around 35 mpg so with a R3 or R3T you are talking about 200-210 per tank. But I also heard on a site that if you get on it, mileage on a R-3 could be as low as 25 mpg, then you ARE talking 145 miles per tank. That is one of the thngs holding me back from buying an R-3 along with the fact I don't have $16k on me.

I've always loved the look of the RIII and now we have an opportunity to purchase its "demon spawn!" "Who's an angry motorcycle? Who is? Yes you are Roadster, you're an angry motorcycle!"

I especially like the "subtle over the bumps" followed by the Roadster catching air over some "bumps". Nice.
