I purchased a used comfort seat for my America through the classified section of this board. It was in new condition as advertised, however the mounting parts were not included. The original classified post made no mention of this item not being a complete unit. I checked with my dealer and was informed the mounting parts are not sold by Triumph separately from the seat. I PM'd the seller asking about the lack of parts. My message was received and read but I got no reply. I've bought and sold many parts and accessories through several different boards. This is the first time I've been screwed. Guess it was bound to happen and I've been lucky up until now.

what exactly is it you need? I don't know what a Comfort Seat is or how it mounts - why would it need something special or different from stock.
As to following up with the seller, if you've given him/her a reasonable length of time to reply maybe one of the mods in the classifieds section would help you follow up.

The missing mounting part is referred to as a "bayonet" according to Triumph. It is a required part to correctly mount the comfort seat to the motorcycle. Otherwise the seat is not attached properly.

Still not sure what a comfort seat is, but I am guessing maybe a solo seat and your needing the triangular bracket the bolts to the seat and to the rear fender maybe? Correct me if I am wrong here.
I had the same problem awhile back, but after a few emails, we got it all sorted out. Try again and see if they will at least make it right with you. I have found everyone on here to be very honest, they may just have not understood or miss read what you wrote. Good luck

According to Triumph accessories, proper term is touring seat, not comfort seat as I previously posted. And yes livinginh, the triangular bracket (referred to as a bayonet by Triumph) is the missing part.

There are probably plenty of people on this forum who would've been interested in helping you out with this. Heck, half of them would probably give you the part. But this probably wasn't the way to go about it. 
As it is the classifieds section clearly states, "The seller and buyer are the sole parties involved in any transaction."
I'm sorry you think you got screwed but maybe you should have done a little more research and asked a few more questions.

I think he is talking about the chrome L shaped bracket that attaches it to the fender.

Well I guess that in my experience with buying and selling pre-owned parts and accessories over the years through this board and many others, as well as the posted classified ad I responded to, I expected the accessory I purchased would come complete with all parts as it would from the manufacturer.

I purchased a touring seat when I got my bike, and there was no additional hardware included with it. It simply swapped out with the existing seat and used the existing hardware. I'm not sure what it is that you think you are missing, but saying you are 'getting screwed' sounds a bit overboard..

What I think I'm missing? I have in my hand the computer printout from the Triumph parts computer system. The photo clearly shows the mounting bayonet that goes underneath the one piece touring seat, bolts to the fender and replaces the stock mounting shoulder bolt that attaches the front of the stock rear pillion seat to the rear of the stock rider seat.

I have seen this happen with several solo seats, I made a bracket for one but haven't had time to make any more.

This doesn't necessarily sound like a screw job... maybe dig a little deeper into the matter regarding said missing part. There's probably an amiable resolution to this here dilemma.

You guys are probably right. I sent a message to the seller inquiring about the missing part. I received a "read receipt" indicating he got the message. No response. That made me think I was being ignored. With my original post I blew off a little steam. Maybe I reacted too quickly and hastily. I simply felt wronged. I sincerely appreciate your responses with advice and attempts to assist. If I'm wrong I owe this guy a huge public apology and deserve nothing less than total banishment from the Triumph collective.

Yep Keith. That's EXACTLY what I did when bigbill sent me his old Speedmaster seat which I affixed to my BA a few months back. And evidently so did Brad[MrUnix], as per his above posting.
It's REAL simple. There's two small nuts that screw off the original seat's "prong" unit, and THEN ya just bolt the sucker onto the OTHER seat!
(man...I'm tellin' ya...I guess some of this stuff must be rocket-friggin'-science 'round here, HUH?!)

As far as I know the guys on this site tend to be honest and helpful. I have had many dealings with guys in the classifieds and have never had an issue.

Believe me Dwight, if it was that simple it would've been done that way. No offense taken in your post. As stated in my previous post, I sincerely appreciate the responses and advice to this post as well as all other past queries I've made to the membership.

I agree. I've had many dealings with guys on this board as well as three different BMW boards, a Yamaha board and a Honda board. Never had a problem before.

You're talking about the post that bolts to the fender. The one in John's link is an aftermarket one that screws right into the threaded hole. That vendor is highly thought of by many here. Here's the link again... "bayonet" post . $8.95 plus .50 shipping.

It appears that you are talking about the Speedmaster seat. The Bayonet is not part of the seat, it's part of the bike. When I sent Dwight my old seat, I included the bayonet because I had no further use for it with my Corbin solo seat. Part #15 hereOK, that link got weird. "Go to body and fenders" then "mudguards/chain...." it's number 15.

OOPS!!! You're right Bill! You did send that sucker along with the seat, didn't ya?! And that's the part I bolted to the rear fender, NOT the friggin' seat.  And sooooooo, I guess I owe yet ANOTHER apology to Mike here, not only for my intemporate behavior BUT ALSO for the wrong info, because as you said here, the "bayonet" is part of the SPEEDMASTER'S seat assembly bolted to the fender, but not the BA's, though the BA does have the three holes for it already drilled into its fender. And if Mike has an America, then he probably doesn't have that part affixed to his bike, just as I also didn't. (geeeeez, I HATE IT when I'm wrong....good thing it's a seldom occurrence, huh?!)

Ok, bigbill hit the bayonet on the head if you will -
The part numbers you need are -
t2300120 qty1 "BAYONET"
t3550054 qty2 WASHER
t3330856 qty2 SCREW
t2300121 qty1 SPACER
They are part of the speedmaster fender, not the seat. If your local dealer couldn't figure it out..... welll...

Its never been out of the bag. I didn't feel I needed it after I bought it.
I'll send it for $5.00, and $4.00 shipping in a padded envelope. Thats about the same as it would cost you from Triumph, but I've got it if you want it.
