Seems the old push mower developed a serious vibration that I traced to the engine mounting holes breaking out of the deck. So, now I have a small vertical crankshaft engine that runs well, but needs a new job. I guess I could just weld the mower deck and add some re-enforcement but, If I'm going to do that much welding and fabrication, I might as well make something fun. If it had more power, I'd consider getting a small differential, mount it in up ended and put in a U joint between it and the engine. As it is, I'm thinking along the lines of a twisted belt drive to go from the vertical crankshaft to a horizontal axle, but if it isn't done right, the 2 sides of the belt could come in contact and destroy the belt.

Well Ed you did post this in 'Other Bikes' so ya really got to turn this thing into a bike mower of some sort. Not human powered like the one below I realize 'cause you wanna get mo power... but I thought this bike mower had some good ideas in the looks department. Throw a motor on it and away you go? Just an idea.

The grass will only grow so high, Ed - Then it bends over and mowing ceases to matter.

Well, I have other lawnmowers, including a 56 HP 72 inch riding mower. I'm looking for another application for the engine. Don't need another mower or a power washer so I'd like to make something fun.

Hey that is pretty cool. I could cut my grass and get in shape at the same time.
