Going to have a look at a 76 Trident tomorrow. Have wanted a Trident or BSA Rocket three since I was in my mid teens, I'm 52 now. Maybe it's finally time.

There happens to an article(the cover story, actually) in this latest month's "Motorcycle Classics" magazine about the BSA RocketIII, and though it's more about the Beezer(a beautiful red and chrome 1971 model in fact, just like the one I purchased brand new back then) it does touch a little on the Tridents. And of course, the T160 Triumphs, with their 15-degrees inclined engines were actually based on the BSA A75 triple, as you may already know.

All I know about Tridents, is when I was spinning around Wisconsin on my 76 T140, my riding buddy had a ~73(??) Trident. I remember it being a nice motorbike.

Freedom if I do pick it up you may just see it in Nelson next year. Hopefully you will be healed up and can take it for a run. I just need more riding options, my 72 H2 is fun and very quick but with the modifications that have been done over the years the handling and fuel mileage are not what you would call stellar, and my gut has gotten to big to be comfortable on the ZZR. This would keep me amused for awhile.

Hope you get the trident. A cool classic. Rode one once a few years ago, thought about buying it, but then I heard the "siren" call of the "bills".

It's a done deal I am the proud owner of a 76 trident, It's not perfect but probably a #2 according to the guide lines. This thing sounds good. It's like the kid's speed triple but not as loud as his aftermarket exhaust but more throaty. I ususally do all of my mechanics myself so after looking this thing over there will definitely be a learning curve. I haven't worked on anything like this for a lot of years.

I'll have to see how it runs. I've been to the Nelson rally every year since the first 2003 I have the yellow 03 speedmaster I'm sure I must have met you mountain man but I'm usually under the influence and my ability to remember is quite impaired. Please make a point of introducing yourself next year.

Took the T160 out for a short ride today the carbs do need some TLC. I thought it was running lean so I fired it up tonight in the dark and found that that the right hand cylinder is very lean (header pipe cherry red) hope I didn't FU anything. Other than that this thing out handles my Speedmaster big time. It's just like what I remeber a high performance motorcycle of the 70"s should handle like. It's light years above my 72 H2's handling capabilites and to dream a little a lot like my ZZR's handling but not nearly as precise. I can always dream that it is just as good, and the most important part it sounds mean, LOUD. To be fair to the Kawaski faithful my bike is setup to basically run in a stright line (1/4 mile) but I did own a stock one in 1975 and it would not have a chance cornering against the Trident. God I love that name.
