Dave had a similar tragic experience with my dad a few years back and I know what you and your family are going through brother! Had to prepare and deliver my dads Eulogy and is the toughest test of my character to date. Also needed to show strength to ensure my mother, bothers and sister got through it. Tough times, very tough show your strength and do your mom proud.
Deepest sympathy my freind.

Dave, the most impotrtant thing you've ever done was to hold your mom's hand as she slipped away. She shared a most intimate moment bringing you into this world. As a parent, I can tell you that I hope my children will be with me when I make my exit; they mean the world to me.
I held my wife's hand when she died at 32 and my dad's hand when he died a few years later. I lost my identical twin brother very young and he was alone at the time. I am tortured to this day thinking of him all alone taking his last breaths. You are a good man Dave, there are times in one's life to "stand up and be counted" as my dad used to say. I believe you will find that you are a better and more compassionate person for having experienced this. That said, my heart is breaking for you and your family. May your beautiful memories soon overshadow the sadness you are now burdoned with.

Take peace in knowing that you were there with her as she slipped away, and that you did get to spend as much time with her as you did in those last, si important days and hours.

It would be far worse, I would think, to not have been able to be there, or worse yet, to find a loved one had passed before you even had a chance to go be with them, or for whatever reason could not go. I have co-workers here from ElSalvador that have had to rely on family members reporting on their Mother's status as she declined, and it pained me too, that they could not go to her side.

Thank God for small favors.

We love you, man.

I am sad for your loss, yet happy for you for being able to be there for her. I hope I have the same courage you have if I am faced with a similar situation. God Bless.

Sorry for your loss Dave. I went through the same thing with my dad, he was only 60 and I was 23. They same time is a great healer, and it is. Whenever you feel a little down think of the good times you had with your mum, she wouldn't want it any other way.
