Hello from Italy!
My name is Sergio and I am at the moment looking to buy either the America or the new Thunderbird (I am having a difficulty to decide). Anyway I just wanted to say hello and congratulations for this very interesting site.
Sergio.

Welcome Sergio. Get yourself the America. The Thunderbird is a boring motorcycle. Fast, but boring.

Go for the Speedmaster or America. The T-bird is just not pretty enough push come to shove.
Triumph's design experts could have done a better job in that respect.
Just look at the sleek clean good looks of our bikes....no comparison.

Benvenuto Sergio!America, Rocket, Speedmaster or Tunderbird are all magnifico!
They all need aftermarket pipes to bring them to life.
Whatever your choice enjoy the ride bro!

Welcome Sergio!
If you are considering a T bird why not just go the whole hog and get a Rocket3?
I'd say though go for a speedmaster - much better looking and people won't confuse it as much as a T bird with all the kawazukihondahas that are out there.

Ergonomics. The Speedmaster has drag bars and the America has wider more traditional cruiser bars. Aside from that, the Speedmaster has dual front disc brakes, a tach is standard and more black parts than chrome parts.

Welcome! Look at the bikes, sit on them, and ride them if you can. Even though the America and Speedmaster are very similar, they have different seats and bars. What's comfortable for you should be a high priority.
Even though the T-Bird is new and a great bike, I'll bet my America will still turn more heads and get more attention.

I am curious on about how the America is for long distances. Is it comfortable and how is the power? Thank you for your help.

So you are long distance expert? Fantastic!
You think SpeeMaster better for long distance, is this because better seat position or why?

My woman and I ride long distances I on a Speedmaster and her on an America. Both bikes loaded with gear for camping for a week or so. We have no complaints about either bike.

A week, I was thinking of longer. Of course I know this bike is not touring bike, but what distances are you talking about?

Distance riding depends somewhat in the rider. Though the America and Speedmaster are not built SPECIFICALLY for long distance riding, I find my America is perfectly comfortable doing so. These bike's are a compromise. They handle better than most cruisers, but not as well as a sportbike. They do ok for a distance cruise, but not as well as a "goldwing couch". I regularly do 600 to 1000 mile rides, with no complaint. However, many members here don't care for the seat, for long distance, and they change it to a Corbin, or other.

I also run 600 to 1,000 fairly often. Also posted some of my rides in your other thread.

400 miles is about my limit for a day on the Speedmaster. The ergonomics aren't the best for my frame. If you plan on a lot of long distance riding, you'll be better served by a different bike, maybe Thunderbird, maybe Rocket touring (to stay with Triumph).
If you plan on touring with a pillion, The America/Speedmaster is not your bike.

Me and my TBA get along pretty good on long distant hauls and I'm talking stock saddle combined with my stock a$$. I could ride from coast to coast and back again then wake up the next morning and want to ride some more. But... the Beemer R1200CL I sampled a few months back was a DREAM on the ol' body, especially the butt. So what I'm saying is to ride my Trumpet does end up hurting but not enough to stay at home. And I'm saying the Beemer was much more comfortable but not enough to switch bikes. Ahhhh, just fire up the America or Speedy and don't look back.

I am not looking to be a long distance king like member Beduin (as said on the other thread which I have now lost) but am looking at covering this possibility if nessecary. I have some thinking to do as there are a few opposite replies that confuse me.

Just buy one and love it and make it your own to ride as you see fit. The distance one can travel on it depends on the rider.
