Hi all !
I write from France.
I was looking for Spedmaster/America french forum, but I did'nt find anything in my country.
I finally found this site. That will be a nice place for me to learn all about America. I bought mine 10 days ago, ride 1000 km. That's a great pleasure to ride this bike!
Now, I'm looking for exhausts because, as you know, stock exhaust are just a bit louder than my wash-machine ....
So , I plan to buy long america silencers .
I just want louder but not too much because I live downtown and I'm not sure my neighbours will apreciate too much noise.
So, that was just a "Hello" post from France.
For exhaust, I'll read the appropriate forum and I'll post if necessary.

Triumph Off-Roads may be what you want.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Welcome Thierry, Poke around the various forums and you will hopefully find answers to many of your questions. Hundreds of members have posted their experiences over the years and a few even know what they're talking about  . If you don't find the answer, feel free to throw it out for consideration. There's a tech forum with lots of information, you have no doubt been there. One benefit of ba.com is meeting people from your geographical neighbourhood. There's rides and gatherings going on all the time. If a posting gets moved to another forum, don't take any offense, moderators sometimes let the "power" go to our heads  Enjoy and ride safe man.........  jh

Bienvenue Tfrenchy, Il faut acheter des "Bubs". A moi, ils (elles?) sont mieux que plus d'autres. Le son est fort mais pas desagreable. Dang, my french is rusty. And to think I once passed the BEPC way back when. Yep, welcome et bon chance!! A+

Well....MY "theory" is Thierry here just might turn out to be the very first frenchman to ever attend one of the Euro Rallies next year!!!  Of course, THAT is IF you jokers around here don't scare the poor guy off somehow by that time!!!  (...like say by makin' awful puns with the guy's name, or somethin' like that!!!)  Welcome dude!!!

Welcome Thierry! I am in France often (Lac du Vassivere) and a few of us tour France every year. La Rochelle is perfect for your America (you are right about the pipes an essential modification). Enjoy!

Yes, those are the ones. Actually, they are NOT legal in California. Their advantage is that they give you a better sound and the bike stills runs great with no other changes. BUT, if you want to open up the airbox and re-jet the carburetor for better performance the Off Roads allow you to do so. You may be able to buy a set from a member and save some money too as many members think even the TOR's are not loud enough and have opted to buy other products.

Salut TFrenchy, Et voila, Des Bubs pour toiIf you read the exhaust threads, you will find people that like one exhaust versus another. My own preference is, naturellement, Bubs. It's best that you read those threads, then decide on your own set of pipes (exhaust). You may find some youtube videos of some of the exhaust systems being used, but the audio quality of a pc just does not reflect the deep, throaty feeling you get in person. Personally, I would recommend you avoid the TOR (Triumph Off-Road) exhaust. @ladisney : I've just understood : TOR is Triumph Off Road ?! (Zut , I spent some time to try to find those on the Web...) I've already planned to buy long T O R exhaust and change airbox too. (my vendor make cartography - My America is EFI) @Conwy : I've already seen video with BUBS. That seems to be very loud. I do not understand "I would recommend you avoid the TOR" . Do you mean it's a good thing or a bad thing buying TOR ? (I dont understand "avoid" ...). Thanks for the links. Bookmarked! (and your french is probably as good as my english . But we understand each other.) @piper : La Baviere is 1000 km far from me...

Yes, Bubs will be louder than the TORs and the SS (Specialty Spares) will be even louder (plus fort). Both (Bubs & SS) are good pipes, you will find threads in the Exhaust section talking about the benefits of both. You can't go wrong with either. And you certainly won't be confused with the "buzz" of a Mobilette!!

Thierry, Oui a peu pres. Le son sur l'ordinateur, c'est pas tres ...ummm...exact? juste? The Bubs will "bark" (aboyer? comme un chien) when you twist the throttle and they do have a sweet sound (a moi au moins). I used to get a lot of compliments about my bike, even at stoplights. It's best you read through the Exhaust section and listen to sound clips from the different pipes that people like. I recommend that you do keep your original stock pipes, you never know when they might come in handy. Bon chance

The last time I was in France on the way back from the Euro rally, I think someone was moving the road signs around because although I knew where I was, the roads actually were not going in the same direction as me.
Still, it was a nice place to be geographically misplaced!
