Ugh....I think I may have found out why my Progressive fork springs ride like $&%*.. I took the caps off tonight, pulled all the goodies. Then, compressed the suspension with a strap. This is my oil level with the forks compressed and all the guts laying on the bench....about to the bottom thread in both tubes. Little help here, everything I am reading says the correct level is 166mm (6.3ish inches) from the top of the tube. Just making sure I have got that right before me and the turkey baster get to slurpin oil out of my forks. Thanks for the help. fork oil level 1 fork oil level 2

How did that happen? Definitely right about why your front suspension worked (or didn't work) like cr#p.
As far as fork oil goes, I can only tell you what mine is using Hagon Progressive springs and that's 140mm from the top.
Yes, from memory the stock forks are 166mm or so but at with my progressive fork springs there is a different amount required.
FYI, in the tech vault there is an article on how to measure your for oil levels without having to take each fork leg off the bike. It's a real handy bit of info and will save you a lot of time.
There must be others out there who can tell you what the oil amount is with the Progressive progressives so to speak.
Btw, my front springs are working quite well.
good luck

Man, I have no idea. I bet the oil got measured with the forks extended last time it was changed...it was right on the money that way. Anyhoo, 3.5ozs of oil out of each side and holy bat$%*^ does it feel great. Just took a spin down the street and I now get it. Man those things are great. Just took me a while to figure out what was going on.

How about using one of these: Bet they sell these in other countries than Finland too and you cannot make fork oil measuring any easier.

Yep, they sure do. I stopped by three places today with none in stock. Came home and made my own.

Progressives tools. Fol-2 Best for the job Fol-1: economy. Progressive FOL-2 Progressive FOL1Service Manual says (page 11.13) 166 mm below the inner tuber upper surface. (fork fully compressed) Use 10 wt. oil with Progressive springs. Fork oil capacity 484 cc. Using the FOL-2 device set it at 166 mm draw off fluid until air. Done eddy
