i have seen in the past a tank cover/bib that has a little pocket on top for the america it appears to tie at bottom but does anyone have any idea how they fit at top ? would really appreciatte it if anyone has one laying around they could post a picture of one layed out flat so i can get an idea of how it sposed to look as i have never actually seen one and have some material i thought i would have a go at making one

If I remember correctly, the one I had a few years ago did not actually attach on the top end.
After removing the chrome dash panel from the tank, the top end of the tank bib just laid over the 3 posts used to attach the dash.
Screw the dash panel back down, tie the string on the bottom end down and Bob's your uncle.

ah right was how i was thinking of trying it but without really having a clue will have a bash next week i got a few days off work

it will damage your paintwork
