i'm in the same boat as you. i visited the memphis shade site myself and found a couple i'm interested in, but no triumph mounting kit is shown. i might try giving them a call and ask if one will fit on a triumph without to much hassel.

You have to change the fork tubes to the 2006 back ones, they are straight not tapered, then you get the mounting kit for the Suzuki M50, kit number MEM 9907. Good luck

Tom, I think there's some info in the tech vault addressing windshields for the tapered forks for 07+ bikes. If not, do a search, I remember it being discussed.

Memphis Shades currently does not have a fit for the bikes with tapered tubes. Cheapest fix is getting a set of the straight tubes or buying a Triumph screen..or another brand other than Memphis Shades or Slipstreamer.

Thomas, a little birdie told me you bought a Memphis Fats Big Shot.

If that's true, is there any chance you can send some pics of how it looks on your bike.

Anyone else with info on the big shot, feel free to chime in cos it'll help me decide what one I get next.

cheers

I recently purchased the chrome fork tubes for my 08 EFI and they are the straight type, so if the Memphis Fats fixings require straight tubes you could kill two birds with the one stone and have nice chrome tubes and a means to fix the Memphis Fats.

I've already got the good oil on the Memphis shades big shot with the quick disconnect hardware from Eddy.

Saved $40 too cos they are on special at the moment so at long last I'm going to have a screen that's going to do it's job properly.

Don't get me wrong, my current Clearview has been a top unit but due to various issues associated with original measurements and the incorrectly rated Hagon springs, the screen is too low.

I also like the look of the big shot. It's just a personal thing.

Hi actually that was on my old 06... I will try to find a pic. My new bike [09] has a memphis fats using the mounts from the triumph shield that came with it

Actually, those pics would be good Thomas. I suppose they were from the bigger Triumph shield (what's it called) and not the summer shield hey?

It doesn't really matter but did I notice your pics did have the summer shield hardware and if you did use them for the memphis big shot, I'd definitely like to see some pics if you don't mind.

I recieved the big shot in the post yesterday. and it'll be interesting to see what the new brackets look like cos at the momen,t the Triumph summer hardware brackets look pretty good to me.

Actually I can vaguely remember the Memphis hardware looking not that flash. I'm not really sure though

Whatever, just having the bigger shield will be great. Will have to put it on soon though cos I've got a 3 day trip coming up and want it on for that. My missus keeps wanting me to do stuff for my mum in law though

I really enjoyed that windscreen, just enough cover and really looked slick. I'd love to find a set of straight fork covers I look forward to seeing the pics of the Big shot on your bike. looks like we both have the same colors...

I'll post some pics once I put the shield on but I did a quck size up and will be putting the Memphis hardware on. Beside that I'll be wanting to sell my old Clearview with the summer hardware and then there's the quick disconnect facility which isn't such a big deal cos I'll probably be leaving the screen on permanently anyway.

Anyway, I have to pick up some more browny points with the missus this weekend, cos she's on the war path with me doing too much of my favourite pastime doing this stuff and not enough of the MAN do Man stuff around the home, which means doing the fun stuff will have to wait so I can get some credits up.

One thing though, you mention"

I'm just a tad confused which isn't unusual, still coming down off some heavy pain medication due to back issues which has done some dastardly ugly things my noggin's internal sub structure LOl and so the memory isn't what it used to be. That's my excuse anyway

So from what I can gather, did you have a bingle cos something's not adding up right. I've missed something somewhere

Hi all, as promised here's the Memphis Shades Big Shot I put on my 05 speedie yesterday.

It took me a while cos I had to also take off my Clearview GT 17" with light grey tint which as I've already mentioned was a really good shield but I needed more height for a number of reasons.

FYI, the hardware of the MS big shot is very good quality and the kit even comes with the tools for installation which worked really well as they don't allow you to overtighten the screws.

I am extremely happy with my purchase for a number of reasone starting with the easy to follow instructions being clear and concise (no chinese gibberish here) making installation easy and enjoyable.

I haven't had the time yet to go for a ride to test how well she performs but I would be surprised if I didn't have a grin at the end.

In fact I'm going on a 3 day ride starting friday so I'll get back with my impressions then.

For those who are thinking between purchasing the clearview and a Memphis shades, personally and I could be biased, I do think the shades pips the post as far as all round usability primarily because it can be taken off easily with the disconnect hardware and to be perfectly honest I do prefer the cut of the shades shield. It's just a personal thing. Looks brilliant

The other factor to consider is that if you want to add a light bar, you might be in trouble with the Clearview as the shield's material (perspex or whatever) goes down more around the headlight (see pics) which of course is a good thing, but not if a light bar is in the equation.

If I'm wwwwwrong here, could someone please confirm so I'm not spreading misinformation (me misinformation )

Mind you, you can cut these shields anyway and it's an easy enough procedure provided you follow the instructions to the letter. In fact I think there are some in the tech vault from memory. Otherwise google it. I know it's there.

Now finally in saying this, with more material around the headlight on the clearview I would expect it would block a little bit more headwind underneath the shield so this is a good thing going the way of the Clearview.

One last thing, I am 6' 1" which is why the big shot was almost made for me and taller riders. In fact you can raise the height of the big shot if you are taller than myself but this will widen the gap between the bottom of the screen and the headlight. This wider gap could be easilly fixed though with some sort of material and in fact, if anyone does have an idea of what they have used I wouldn't mind knowing myself. Just haven't had time to investigate.

So here's some pics for you all, starting with the Clearview and then moving on to the big shot.

Fyi, here's what the Summer Screen Hardware looks like off the bike,

And now the big Kohuna (sorry about spelling)

So that's the first impressions of my MS big shot.

I was able to increase the height by about 2 -3 inches so that I can still see where I'm going over the top of it but so that the airflow will now travel completely over my head

I hope this helps people decide which screen is good for them and in my case the big shot was more appropriate for my needs. If however I didn't have to buy a taller screen I probably would have kept the Clearview cos I'm not yet in the millionaires club.

Staffo

PS: for all you "form over function, born to be wild easy rider dudes" , here's a pic of my ride without the screen.

Just thought I'd throw it in to see for myself and to excite the crowd who's ego needs nourishment by being looked at, cos I'm not such a moron as to realise our bikes definitely look better without em.

To each their own

ride safe maties

Me again,

Since my last post I've been on a 3 day bike ride using the big shot but not only that, I was able to put on the Memphis lowers too which between the two, made this ride as good as they come.

I need to mention that over the last couple of years I have realised that the more protection you get from the air going over your head, it appears this creates a pressure variation where the inverse amount comes up from below. I first noticed this when I bought an accessory (forget it's name) to lengthen my Clearview and whilst it did seem to lessen the headwind amount at the top of my helmet, the air coming up from around the tank was almost as bad.

Anyway, I already had Memphis shades lowers so decided it would be a good idea to see if they work. I'm not even sure how I've mounted them is correct but not only did I like the look, they really did make a substantial difference to the amount of wind coming upwards.

Anyway, it's one of those things that you have to do yourself to appreciate but I would be very surprised if like me you weren't thrilled with the result.

Fyi, here's some pics but I should first mention this, on full lock the edge of the lowers do touch the tank badge which will be sorted with a little bit of tinkering.

And finally, the Flying Wombat

Hey Stack, is it just me or do you have the lowers on upside down?

You know, they may well be upside down but the thing is they work and I still like the way they look.

Next time me and Eddy have a chat I'll take my laptop out and show him and see what he says ie: skype + wireless.

When I get a chance I'll also have another look but it'll take a fair bit of convincing to change them. For instance someone telling me, "they will work better Stack if you turn them right way up".

You got it. Actually I was talking to Fast Eddy about em and yep, upside down but who knows I might have discovered a better performing arrangement with them the way I have them now.

Eddy's has a smaller screen being the smaller bloke he is and in his experience hasn't found a big difference using the lowers.

Well with no truth of a lie (I don't need to) I found this setup to be great. Not just good, great.

Without them, I was getting a a large amount of upward rising air which whilst not as bad as the in your face without a shield variation (are you there Erle Eerrrrllllle, come out to Plaaaaayyyyy) the difference is quite dramatic and comfortable as.

So for now until I want to start fiddling again, I'm keeping them that way cos as they say "when your on a good thing, stick to it"
