Now that we are on the brink of "real" football....all I want to know is....
Bret retired or unretired.....or not sure. The on again off again is just nuts.
So he is now ON with the Vikes and the MN sports writers are having a field day.
How long will he last before he caves?

Good luck to them. He is not going to retire as long as there is someone offering crazy money. And he craves the attention. He is going to come completely unglued when he can't play anymore.

It wouldnt be such a big deal if he wouldnt keep retiring. If he really just wants to keep playing for other teams, he should sign a one year contract and keep playing.

The old man is gonna get hurt sooner or later. I'm not wishing anything bad upon him, but it's getting pretty old hearing about him. I'd almost bet that's what's gonna have to happen before he throws in the towel.

Tool! What a stupid move for a franchise player like Favre. I cant imagine he needs the money.

Guys, I was born in Wisconsin and am a lifelong, forever Packer fan. Me and most other cheeseheads would have done anything for this guy. And he has done great things, and has been a great guy. But this saga has most of us befuddled, and worse, losing respect. But truth is, with offers, who can say "no". He's not that old, Marino played until an older age, and Brett is bigger and stronger than he was. And so many young QBs get paid high salaries and never deliver, so a veteran who has experience and success is always preferred by teams needing a starter.
Overall, it hurts, but I still love the guy - he just wants to have fun and play (and make $) why not - just wish he didn't do the retire thing in the first place. He was a few points from appearing in another Superbowl with his last Packer season - remember? Everyone would have welcomed him as the starter if he wanted to stay on - but he had a tearful retirement to end career (close) to on top, so everyone said "fine, whatever you want, we love you" but then...
So now, he joins are DESPISED rival Vikings, so that's about worse thing he could do with all his (ex?) Packer fans. Anyway, should have played out different, 1 or 2 more years as Packer and everything would have worked out, now this.

Problem was with Aaron Rodgers sitting on the sideline. The Pack were in a no-win situaiton, if Brett had stayed on, Rodgers would have left the team after the next season when he would have been a free agent. Can't exepct a guy to keep waiting to start his career (as a starter), after all, they have a limited time to make their mark (and money). The Viqueens cheese me off to say the least, but I can't blame Brett for wanting to do what he does. I just wish he was more decisive and not dragging things out over and over...

I would want to play as long as I could and as long as someone was willing to pay me. What I would not do is stage three "retirement" press conferences(two in the last eleven months), string everyone along... what will he do? sign, not sign?... "Look at me, look at me!!!!" It's too bad because all of this takes away from his legend as a great player in Green Bay. But he hasn't been that guy for 10 years. What's amazing is there are still people out there buying into the myth and willing to pay him those ridiculous salaries. Last year the joke was on the Jets. This year it will be on the Vikings.

Not true. Marino retired at 38. Brett will be 40 in October.
Also according to NFL.com, Favre is 2" shorter and 6lbs. lighter than Marino but that doesn't even matter. Just consider how fast Favre fell apart the last five games of last season. He said himself after his most recent retirement that is probably a good thing that he is not playing this year because he doesn't think his body would make it to the end of the season.

Aw come on fellas! He just loves to play the sport and identifies himself with football. He's burned some bridges by not being able to make up his mind and just wants to play ball. Besides, he needs to work in order to pay the utilities on his property in Lamar County, Mississippi. You should see that place. Its huge! I wish him the best but I'm afraid he's gonna do like Joe Nammath and break something that won't get well (besides his ego and pride) and have to live with it for the rest of his life.
Its more fun to be ridin'! I'm still ridin

Imagine he goes into GB with the Vikes and has one of those super phenom games that he was so well known for in his prime? Five TD passes ....no itercepts.
Nah that'd not sit well in GB.
They'd want one of his bad games with four interceptions etc etc.....

As a packer fan when that game comes I hope none of his relatives die. Remember the 49ers game (I think) after his dad died? He was phenominal. But then again He could be equally bad some games.

I think he picked up 12m for next season. While I think he is well past his prime and hurting his legend. 12 million goes a long way soothing hurt feelings, etc.

Today in the sports world, Sept 10th, 2059: Brett Favre, 90, [pictured below with his wife] has just announced that he will un-retire for the 28th time in his legendary NFL career, saying he has just inked a one-year contract as the Back-Up QB with the newly created NFL expansion team, The Los Angeles Infernos.

Hey, speakin' o' which...Did you guys see this new Sears commercial aired during last night's NFL opener, where Brett is spoofing his own new-found image of indecisiveness as he can't seem to make up his mind about a TV purchase inside a Sears store? I thought it was pretty good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xDhi06XIAM

The Favre magic is alive and well in MN. 3-0 aint a bad way to be.
49ers got their proverbial heart broken today.

Old Favre is really showing the non believers. If there were any naysayers in Minneapolis they for sure are on board the Favre wagon now.

Yup. It was a homerun straight shot to the head of the Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
Fortunately the Pack will get another shot at home....I expect that will be an even more emotionally charged game..
Woe to the Vikes if they go to Lambeau and dont bring their A game.
