Trip to Logan, Utah My first long ride alone: Took a ride down to see relatives in and around Logan. Got to meet GMike from the boards here in Idaho. We went to breakfast on my way down. We rode in a horrible storm, apparently, Boise got 1" of rain in less than 24 hours. I did not, of course, pack my rain gear. Didn't get to ride around the Cache Vally as much as I was hoping to, but did take a short ride up Logan Canyon to Bear Lake and had one of the best raspberry milkshakes ever. It was a great ride. Mike and his wife (Mary) put me up like a king on my way home. The gave me dinner and breakfast, it was much nicer than staying at the Motel 6 again. Took a few pictures along the way. I hope you like them. One question: For those of us fellows of larger stature, I about broke a hip every time I pulled my foot over the seat due to the bags on the back. Getting off wasn't a problem, just climbing on. Does everyone have this problem? Cheers, ~Brent

I lived in Logan-UT from 1983-89, various and assorted things to do with sheep research. I liked the area, came back once in 2001 & barely recognized the campus. I sold my old 76 Bonneville to offset tuition, I am still undecided if it was a fair trade.
I am 6'5" & usually just step through the seat, however with my newly messed up hip I am not sure what technique will work best.

WHen I get my bike all packed up its not a "leg over" as much as it is a "step over the seat" kind of slide.

Nice Pics! I've been to most of those places. Dont reconize the "worst ever rest area" though.

That rest area was just outside of Ontario. I and about 25 other increasingly irritated guys were waiting over 20 minutes for the guy to clean the restroom. I was first in the door though. aaaahhhh sweet relief.

Bend your knee as much as you can when you lift it over - bend, then lift, turn, then extend. Kind of like a karate kick (?).
By the way, do you have a route map? Do you know how to do one on Google Maps (or any way)? I'm always looking for good routes in the pacific/nw/west.
Thanks

Here you go...the ride there was just down I-84, and a short trip on WA State Hwy 14. I couldn't figure out how to make the map imbed, so here are the directions. In Utah this is a great ride... Logan Canyon US Hwy 89 to Bear Lake up to St. Charles, then North Beach Road to East Shore Road, then US Route 30 back to Bear Lake. You must get a Raspberry Shake at La Beaus, at least that was what I was told, so I did. It was delicious. Take Care, ~Brent
