I need a little help/ advice. I have attended a brain injury awareness ride in Calgary for a few years now. My Bro-in-Law has a brain injury and it helps the programs that he needs. But this weekend I attended my cousins wedding, A wedding that wouldn't have happened unless he had recieved a donor heart last year. I want to start an awareness ride for transplant donor awareness in my home town. I don't know how to get something like this started but if you can provide some info on how to organize something like this I would be very greatful. Also a catchy slogan would be a nice touch too.

I was thinking since most crotch rocket riders are dubbed "organ donors" I'd like to incorporate something like that? Maybe something like "Yes I'm a "biker", and I'm also a donor"? Or something else that would fit on a small helmet sticker? Thanks for any input guys and girls.

I am led to understand that the major difficulty is lack of donors. Maybe you could start a small scale, direct action, campaign to get bikers in Calgary or Alberta generally to sign up as donors. You could start with a posting here, maybe a facebook group.

The advantage would be that you could start tonight, yourself, without any discussions or approval. I'll undertake to sign up (repeatedly if it helps).

Hey man I think you're really onto something here. I can't give you any how-to ideas, nor do I have a slogan for you but I do have lots of moral support to send your way.

Worthy cause for sure.

There is a major lack of donors and probably not just in Alberta. My thinking was something like a 1-1/2 hour ride with a BBQ at the end with door prizes and maybe an auction (sp?). With free donor cards and literature for the participants. Of course everyone would wear a green ribbon on the ride too. I just don't know about the legal hoops to jump thru or how to drum up sponsors and support?
