Have any of you guys used one of these? http://www.findmespot.com/en/I'm considering getting one for an upcoming trip, but would like to hear from others with experience using this (or a similar) unit.

You know its not a GPS, its a only a GPS to find you when you are in trouble. You may a monthly charge I believe to have service. But you cant navigate by it.

Yes, I realize what it is. It will also enable family members to follow my progress as I travel (should I decide to purchase the appropriate service).
The unit and service are a bit pricey, which is why I'd like feedback from those who have used it.

The Apple iPhone has a compass, a GPS, lots of other Apps as well as a phone. Any fairly new cell phone can be tracked by it's GPS in an emergency. I think the other brands have similar capabilities. It's not a great motorcycle system but it does have a lot of applications. I don't own any of these but I've seen folks playing with theirs and they look like they could be pretty handy.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

A friend of mine has one, but she doesn't use the tracking service. She only keeps it because she often rides long distances alone, and wants a backup in case she has a problem.

I'm not so much interested in the safety aspect, as I was looking at this unit from the "toy" angle. Web searches reveal a lot of mixed reviews, so I may keep looking.
