I bought a new-to-me Speedmaster yesterday. The stock pipes were replaced with straight-cut pipes that say "Triumph 2202701" stamped on them. They are LOUD. They sound great, real throaty, but I'd be happy if I could get them a bit quieter and still have a deep throaty sound. Anyone familiar with these pipes? Can I get some baffles installed to lower the volume a bit?
I would post a photo, but I don't know how...
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I don't really want stock.. I guess I'm wondering if I can add baffles to my existing pipes to moderate the volume a bit. I lIKE deep and rumbling... just not the kind of volume that I have now.

Sounds like you have Triumph Off Road pipes. I don't know of any additional baffles that you can add to them.

They might be TORs to start with, but they have evidently been debaffled some. My stock TORs aren't very loud. Maybe someone here will trade you for some stock ones.

I have a set of Short Slash cut TOR's which are still baffeled I'd be willing to sell. They have a very nice low rumble, but are not loud by any means.

Yes. They sell short, slip-in baffles that are made for people who run straight pipes with no mufflers. They fit 1 1/2" thru 1 3/4" I.D. pipes. Others may be avalible. I don't know how they sound. I bought two for my pipes, but decided to make my own baffles, and sent the ones I bought back unused. Many muffler/pipe vendors sell them. Mine came from J.C.Whitney, and went back for a refund.

FunkyWilly I had some short TORs on my Speedmaster.Stock they seemed a little toooooo quite.I took them back off the bike and looked inside the muffler from the front.Inside the ones I had they came with a restrictor in the front. It was like a freeze plug with a hole drilled in the middle of it.I took a die grinder and grinded out to the outside of the plug, which lets it breath better. My point is you could measure your inside diameter of the front of your muffler and go down to your local auto parts store.Buy some freeze plugs knock them into the front of the muffler.Drill a small hole in the front of each muffler.Take it out for a test ride.If it is toooo quite take them off and drill them out a little more until you like the sound. It's a cheap possible fix.Might cost you up to $5,but it should only be $2 or $3.
