Yeah, you could go 22-30 in first. 25-40 for second.

Pipes change make a real difference in acceleration? Happy with what I've got (all factory everything), just wondering...

+1, although my best cruising shift point is 4500-5k rpm, most gears.

Hey Daniel.
Have you got your Tuneboy yet? I got a custom map from Wayne at Tuneboy (see my thread on Disabling O2 in Performance).

You know it's funny, on my '05, she does'nt feel like she needs to shift into fifth until around 65 mph, but on my wife's '05, it feels like she needs to shift around 55...I accomodate both bikes to whats best for each...My Frog is really running SWEET at 38,000 miles.

Do you ride in front of me when I'm late for things?!!!

What the others haven't told you:

1st: 40ish
2nd: 70-80

The above speeds are on a 2007 model: 8k or so red-line, stock 18/42 sprockets. TORS.

No, definitely not right.

I so need a rev counter. I'm in third on the high street...! No idea of revs - what will a '55 carb rev to comfortably?

Try it. Get the engine up to temp. first then just twist the throttle until the rev-limiter kicks in!!! Do this in 2nd and you should see the figures I quoted above. If it struggles to hit the limiter, you probably need to increase the size of the main jets. Prior to rejetting, I hit the rev-limiter once and I had to be brave with the throttle as the bike sounded like it was gonna blow. Based on Pat's thingymajigger, I put some 126's in and the difference (from 6k rpm +) was night and day.

The only problem with the OEM rev-counter is the location. You have to look down to see it. Personally, I'd prefer the 2 clocks (tacho/speedo) to be reverses in both location and size.

(Disclaimer: no responsibility will be taken for any mishap arising from the use of my advice. Etc, etc, etc.)

The slowest my '03 likes to be shifted through the gears is 10,20,30 and 40. It hits the rev limit in first and second at 36 and 48 MPH. I'm not sure after that 'cause the highest speed limit around here is only 70 and I sure wouldn't want to break the law.
