i have been trying to find some decent speakers for my helmet any ideas ?
i have tried in ear plugs and some cheap rubbish but i dont want to shelling out for £50 + speakers to find they rubbish as well
i do like to listen to music and would like to be able to listen when i go on a decent ride
i also want a short wire on them so i can attach to side of helmet and just use a patch lead to my helmet form my mp3 player
any ideas ?

My partner got these on ebay, She thinks they are brilliant. I fitted them into her helmet in two mins and a jack plug socket hangs out the bottom of the lining to connect to her Mp3 player. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hammyp-Helmet-Head...%3A1%7C294%3A50

I use Sony in ear phones... But I only has small ears. Those speakers I don't think would fit in my Davida helmet.

I must be old school or something. I love to ride listening to the bike, and I'm a musician. I can find a note in the exhaust that becomes a bit of a meditation as I ride... a real cool experience. And another thought... staying alert and being able to hear on a bike is super important, are you sure you want to block out the audio world around you? Your call but I find the note of the exhaust and the otherwise hum of the machine to be a real companion on a long or short haul.

to be honest my bike so quiet at the moment it not worth listening to but that will change in time also it mainly for long motorway trips i dont use them on a short or trips in and around town

My helmet if fully wired and ready to go. Mind you it isn't DOT approved, it is an HGU-55P aviators helmet, I figure if it can handle the 14 plus G's of an ejection at 400 knots and still keep my head in one piece.... It'll do for me.
I replaced the aviation wires from my flying days and installed a set of sony studio headphone speakers. Should have seen the look on my wife's face as I opened the brand new package and proceeded to completely dismantle the headphones down to the speakers and wires. Installing was a snap since I used the existing earcups. There is also a pre-drilled hole to run the cord through. The hole was a bit on the large side but once the installation was complete a quick trip to the hardware store for a plastic hole plug solved that problem. I just ground out a notch for the cord to run through without getting pinched. When I have a chance, I'll take some pics and post them. There's no reason that this mod wouldn't work on any other helmet.

I'm thinking of getting a speaker just so I can hear the radar detector, it's hard to see in the sun and I hate to make it so loud the cops hear it as I pass them.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
