Dont have a backrest.....

Dont want saddle bags for everyday use....

Never really rode with a backpack, but if I have to, I have to...

Does anyone use a tailbag or tankbag on their bike for everyday use?

Just need to carry shoes, and maybe a sweatshirt....

Suggestions?

Sounds like you're limited to a tank bag . You might get the shoes and a sweatshirt in there , if you wear a size 7 .

tail bag sounds like the right idea BUT you need to mount it. You could get the Triumph package tray and mount it to that.Heck...then you could even get a hard tail bag like the Givi. Oh...it will look oddish.

I found this Motofizz tailbag, small size, to be very handy and flexible and pretty much watertight. Mounted on a Triumph tall sissybar shelf.

I bobbed my rear fender, so I can't use my saddle bags anymore, so I use a rollbag from BAGTEC the DAYTEC model, it was also nice on my last roadtrip, doubled as my back rest.

Get a bungie-cord net. Strap the backpack to the passenger seat.
Carry a garbage bag in the 'pack for use as a raincover.

Shoot... there was a site I was on recently that had a thin rectangular pad with 4 metal rings that were attached to 2 straps, one at each end of the pad. The item was about the size of our pillions. Anyway, you just remove the pillion, place this under it and put the seat back on. Then you'd have 4 rings between the pillion and the fender to attach bungee cords to. Looked like a pretty good idea.

Do you have a pillion or rack behind you? I used a small tank bag used as a tail bag with a spiderweb bungie cord. It was small but held my lunch, thermos and a pair of work shoes. I bought it a cyclegear for about $25.00, but didn't take into account that the tank pads didn't allow it to work on my tank. Worked out way better.

Well,

I had to do SOMETHING with those empties! Kinda ironic, personal "ALE" tag & under 21.

It doesn't hold alot, but it holds more then the two bags on the bike.

I love my Saddleman, TS3200DE, no sissybar, it just attaches to the top of the shocks and rear signal lights:

They also make smaller roll bags that attach in the same configuration.
