I have just come back from a 10-country ride to check out a 1200GS I have been pimping out lately.
Anyhow, I got a very old buddy of mine (Tolis) to join me on his brand new Tiger.
The route we took (see map) was Greece - Italy - Austria - Germany - Czech Republic - Poland - Czech Republic (again) - Slovakia - Hungary - Romania - Bulgaria - Greece.

Over the years I have posted travel reports on a few of my rides and I thought perhaps a variation might be interesting.

Here's what I am going to do.
I'll be posting a picture of the bike in certain locations and you guys can guess where it is.

Here goes ...

Man, it must be nice to be in a location where you can visit so many different and varied countries and cultures steeped in history. About the closest I can get to another country is a drive down to Miami to visit Havana North.. and I used to live there so that ain't no fun.

Cheers,
Brad

Brad,

Yes it is nice, even when I have the hurdle of an 18-hour ferry ride to Ancona in Italy on the one side and the nightmare of riding through Romania and Bulgaria back to Greece on the other.
But, I see those hurdles as part of the adventure.
The ferry ride actually helps put everything behind me ... sort of a mental distance.

I'm off to the Euro Rally in Poland next Wednesday and then further up to the Nordkapp (the northernmost point in Norway/Europe - Barents Sea/Arctic Ocean).
Guess who will be joining me on this ride?

Yep, that'd be him (alone - Judie is flying back to LA the day before we leave as she has work commitments).

Hero's Square, Budapest Hungary.
I recognized the Millinneum Monument. Fascinating history about the seven tribes.

Nice one

Same here. History around here only goes back 100 years or so. Can't wait til the kids are gone, always wanted to tour Europe.

I cheated, I googled it. That's the National Gallery (Narodni Galerie) in Prague, Kinsky Palace (on the left side of the pic. So you two are in the Old Town square. My parents are flying over there in a couple weeks to take a cruise and visit a few places, I'll have to see if that area is on their itinerary. You can add me to the list of envious folks who would love to ride around and check out places where the history is more than a couple hundred years old.

Parking in town squares and other verboten places, sort of a habit of Thanassis'

You should be able to tap into Dwight's rebellious spirit for a few more of those type of photos

Naw, that's just how he manages to slip pics of 'other' bikes into the BA lounge.

Nah, it's just an obsession of mine to park in the "wrong" places and cross "pedestrian only" historical squares.
You have just not been on here long enough to know of my shameful history.

Check this older thread out (with the Speedy) and you'll see what I mean.

Violations galore!

That took a bit:

Bratislava, Slovakia. The Bridge over the Danube.
That's a restaurant on the tower. (Did you eat there?)

Not on this occasion although I have on one of my previous visits.

Here's a slightly more difficult one:

In all fairness, I'll add an extra one from the same city.

OK, the second one did it.
That's Dresden, Germany. The dome of the Academy Of Arts helped.

The first picture is also Dresden obviously.
So the rest was easy from there. It's the Opera House, Semperoper.

And yeah, very cool pictures

Hey Thanassis, when did you pass through Bologna? I was just there from the 26-31 at a machine builder in Zola Predosa and at Ducati Meccanica SpA (yep, that Ducati). Would have looked you up, but barely any time to get my business done, and wolf down 35 lbs of pasta (tortellini, tortellocci, tortelloni, etc, etc, etc....) and enough wine to spike my liver

seems like it for most of the summer so far. We had some outstanding weather in early-mid July, much cooler than normal, but sunny and in the mid-70's. Italy was MUCH warmer, about 90-95 and mostly un-airconditioned! Got back, one nice day, one rainy damp day. Summer has been a bust so far, although in exchange, my oldest son has suddenly become a big fan of taking long rides through the countryside on the back of Blue, so that is nice!
