To those who were at the midwest rally thank you for making an enjoyable weekend for Diane and myself. For those who did not attend this year make this rally a must for next year as fun was had by all. The Friday night ride on the river boat up and down the Mississippi was a great evening's activity. The ride to the motorcycle museum on Saturday made for an interesting and scenic ride. The museum had many interesting bikes and displays.

An additional thanks to all the short people (including my wife) who made me look tall in the picture!

Looks like everyone had a great time. A nice looking collection of bikes. Who were the guys giving the Triumph is number #1 sign with the wrong finger?

Congratualtions on a succesful rally!

Just rolled back home. Sorry I didn't get to say good by int the morning as I had intended to, my caravan pulled out with other plans, but that was OK too, getting to see you all, some for the first time other a repeat, was great.

My misfortune on Saturday allowed me to have the thrill being a hooligan on the back roads into some incredible twisties with local home boy Gary leading the way and Ldisney showing he was NO slouch at pushing the bikes with wild abandon! It was great! Can't say thanks enough for the special ride Gary.

Scott, you hit it so close to perfect, especially for a first timer and novice to boot. Most excellent dude!

I'm not sure about the surgery, but you could have come to the rally for the great drugs! Haha, just kidding. Maybe next year, you and Ed can caravan.

Yeah, he's a good sport. Being a cubs fan he has to be. He was going to write in the journal something like "harleys rule, triumphs drool, but the triumph guys are cool" but he didn't go through with it.

My mother in law is still talking about the ride on my motorcycle to the boat cruise. 73 years old pretty cool going for a putt with her son in law! My total miles for my trip was 1392 door to door!

Just rolled in, got a few sprinkles this morning but not really enough to get wet - great ride - only the last stretch thru northern IA and Minnesota on the interstate, clocked in at 1908 miles, including the little detour thru Missouri......

That's a good amount of miles there, Jeff. Glad you got there OK and didn't get wet.
Dave, Rick, and I were soaked through IL and MO.

Hey Chris - the way that storm was tracking I don't think you could have avoided it......I got really lucky with my timing and managed to get behind it....someone said thay got 3 inches in Columbia before I rolled in. The driveway to the motel was like a waterfall when I got there...

Jeff, sounds like you went the right way, I rode out of the storm right before Wentzville, Missouri. I stopped, fueled and changed my wet socks,,. Nice riding after that all the way to Sedalia, then ran into fog not fun on 2 lane curvy black top roads in the dark. Glad everyone made it home safe!

And Ed, we promise we will keep your secret

A good run through the twistys clears the head and revitalizes the soul. Riding with new friends just makes the ride that much better. There's hundreds of miles of twisty backroads in the area. I'll be getting maps together for all the county and township roads, and have them marked whether they are paved or gravel for our local RAT rides. I'll gladly share the maps if we have another ralley next year.

IF?! We are definitely having another rally next year! So don't lose track of those maps.

That was when we went to get gas during that last stop we made before the Iron Horse Social Club, I found a little spot to pull off and it looked over the lock and dam up the river from Dubuque.

Not sure why...but this pic is my favorite

Can you email me a copy?

My wife and her cousins stopped at that same overlook on the way to Galena and took some pics. I wish I would have stopped, but the flying was fun too.

Rick,
Remember that area we were at when we met Anne Marie? When we gassed up, some went left and some went right. The 3 of us went left and stopped for a few shots on our way back to catch up with the rest of the group at the other station.
