and or things that annoy the heck out of me:

•people who work at dealerships that
have no knowledge of their: product line,
special events, inventory...

•people who think they know more about
my motorcycles than i do, when they don't,
and have an arrogant attitude toward me
when they realize that they don't know
more than me (i.e. "how do you like that
speed triple?" "it's a sTReeT triple,
and i love it."
"well it looks like a speed
triple." blahblahblah.
(not that i know everything, mind you.)

•when you come back from test riding a
certain american motorcycle(older than hd)
and tell one of the corporate guys that the
bike wasn't running right and he talks at
you as if you have nobloodycluewhatyouaretalkingabout,
and stumbles over his tongue when he realizes you do.

•when the hostess at a local diner asks if everything
was ok and you tell her no, and she gives you a blank stare.

•when you order a pint, while sitting at the bar of
a mexican restaurant, and the bartender walks around
with your pint answering 101 questions being asked by
her manager, and when you ask her to put your beer
down she tells you the managers questions are more important.
and for this you want a decent tip .

thanksforlistening. there's more, but this will
do for now. for those of have met
me in person, i am certain you can visualize the
whole merttellsastory facial expressions and
body language that would accompany the above
blahblahblah had it been outloud

Last Sunday Celt, his wife & I were having breakfast at the historic Hume (idor) restaurant. The waitress prepared seperate cheques. Feeling flush, I lost my head and said I'd take care of it. By the time she got back with a single bill, I said I'd come to my senses & we'd take seperate cheques after all. I think she threw it at me & tried to whack me across the brow.

It's a common response, I don't get out into the civilized world much.

Celt caught the tip

That's right, John! That reminds me of last week's episode of the "How I Met Your Mother" sitcom.

One of the characters, Robin, was feeling homesick for her Canada, and so another character, Marshall, took her to a Hockey themed pub there in NYC which she didn't know existed and where all the ex-pat Hosers go, with Canada's Maple Leaf Flags all over the walls.

And so to "make sure" it was really filled with Canadians, she bowled into some unsuspecting guy who was facing away from her and she nearly knocked him off his feet.

After he gained his balance back, the guy turned to her and said very sheepishly, "Oh Gosh! I'm awfully sorry there! I guess I didn't see you there, eh?! Are you okay?"

Marshall then turned to her and said, "Wait a minute here! YOU bumped into HIM, and yet HE'S apologizing to YOU?!"

And Robin replied! "Yes! I feel JUST like I'm BACK HOME! This is WONDERFUL!!!"

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

An old boy at work gave me the best advice for those folks who think they know more about everything than you do. Keep smiling, it makes em wonder what they're doing wrong.

I 100% totally agree with you. Car dealerships are the worse. Nothing ticks me off more than a car salesman who does not know his (or Her, i'm not sexist) product line.

Then, after they have proved their total ignorance of the car they are showing you they hit you with that famous question that all managers tell their salesman to use.

"If we get the numbers right will you buy this car today". Being the smart ****** that i am i always answer the same way...."get the numbers right and I'll but the whole dam dealership"
