I just read in my latest issue of Cycle World that Triumph has a new shaft drive Trophy coming out in 2010 that should be very competitive with the new Concourse and ST1300 If true,,, I'm seeing another bike in the garage....... But , will it have fins ?

Now that is something I would go for!! I tried the Sprint (lighting quick turns, but - oh my neck) and the Tiger (nice riding position, but a bit more fairing, please...) The ST1300 was smooth, powerful, comfortable and uninspiring. I still have not had the chance to ride the new connie, but it sure looks nice . An updated Triumph Trophy would be just right (oh heck, now I sound like Goldilocks...) I spent the 4th of July riding my British motorcycle around Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The irony of that was not lost on me

I also think it's an area Triumph could do better in. Triumph really doesn't have something like the sports tourers of BMW or Honda. I might have to think about a second bike. My tricked out America I don't want to sell.

AND HOT !!!!!!!!
Sold my ST1300 for the above reasons plus the heat and bought a Tiger. The only time I wish I still had it is on the trip to work when the temp is below freezing. That fairing takes almost all the wind off of a body. There is one other down side, the shield when in the full up position acts as a sail and the front is "twitchy" in a moderate cross wind.
I am really interested to see what Triumph come out with, is it a bigger Sprint? or a dedicated touring model?

I also wonder what motor they plan to use. I love the 1050 triple in my Tiger, but it will not compete with the Concourse motor.
There was talk of a new from the ground up 1100 triple. I hope that's in the works.

Yep! As Triumph has announced that they will only be producing triples and twins from now on, I'm sure that any new Triumph Trophy will be a triple. However, I'll bet, as you mentioned, in order to compete with the likes of Kawasaki's Concourse 14, Honda's ST1300, Yamaha's FJR1300 and BMW's K1300GT, that the Triumph's displacement will be at least as large as any of those others mentioned here.

Well, to answer THAT question Daniel, I'd say...no, 'cause it doesn't need 'em!
(...and no, NOT because "it doesn't need 'em" because it'll be water-cooled, but because a Sport-Touring Trophy is NOT a "retro-styled CRUISER" where the engine is out there for all the world to see!!!)

Oh sure... you had to mention this the week after I did a couple of 300 plus mile days on the stock seat of my T100... now the mind starts to ponder... Can I make more room in the garage? Of course I can. Can I convince my wife that this is a necessity? Not even a tiny chance.

How about a 1300 triple. Transverse, not RIII-style. Just double all the specs for a 675 Street Triple and you have it. (Okay, so it would be a 1350) A flat seat, none of this hiked-up-in-the-air crap. And no underseat muffler either. Put it down low where it belongs. I think I better stop now, I'm starting to go off on a rant.

I guess with a rear tire like that you can just step off the bike and it will remain standing. I don't think my Jeep has a gas tank that big.

I was amazed the first time I saw this pic, for 2 reasons. A) that a lady that lovely would even agree to be photoed with that monstrosity (cuz you know she dont ride it)and B) that someone could actually make a Boss Hoss an uglier, more impractical POS than it started as.

Figured the next bike I get would be a BMW R1200RT. However, if the new Trophy has a lot of the same features, I'll consider it instead. Hopefully it will have at least a six gallon tank, adjustable windshield, and designed to keep the wind blast off my legs.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.
