Saw a chopper at OCC the other day with chromed chain mail covering the exhaust headers-looked nice. Anyone know how to get some?

I saw that episode...I want to say it was the Aragon bike...the chainmail was handmade.
If you want it your going to need to find one of the Reniassance (?spelling?) Fair people and have them make it for you.

You can get chain in a variety of weaves - also there's plenty of ring mail which looks the bomb as well (and you can get in aluminium, bronze and other types).
I make suits of armour in my spare time though mostly from leather as i get lazy.
you got a pic of the type/weave of chain you like? i can probably point you in the right direction for supplies and it's pretty easy to make as long as you don't mind playing with needle nose pliars and sitting watching tv.
I do reenactment (so the above to make sense).

I had a friend in high school who made his own chainmail. He was one weird dude. But of course he was, he was hanging out with me.

agreed, reenactment/sca doesn't breed the most normal of folks though it is oddly thereputic twisting chain links while watching TV with mates, kinda like the 'manly' version of knitting i guess (that what we'd tell ourselves anyway!) Bikes name is the Eragon bike maybe? (can't see a close up on the chain though) I'd be fascinated to see how the chainmail from the ring lord holds up to heat though - i've had a jacket of similar stuff and it didn't strike me as the most robust in the world (though someone who knows more about heat+metal could answer that). personally i'd scale up to something like ring mail which is more robust and you can buy plated in a variety of flavours. Something like 6/12mm mesh square section rings rather than wire rings. Edit : also doing ring mail takes a lot less time, is easier and takes less rings/costs less. uk site that has em is Armchair Armouries but i suspect there's a lot more over in the states.

Hey, I'm in the SCA and I ride a Triumph, so how wierd can "they" be???? Though I only go to some stuff. If you search on making chainmail you are sure to find sources, most likely posted by helpfull SCA folk. Not hard to do, time consuming, tedious maybe. Buy wire, wrap on rode with drill, cut spring like wrapped wire, attache rings together, clamp with pliers etc etc etc. Knew a former marine who makes it, hey if a jar head can do it..... Just kidding. THANKS to all who have and do serve......BTW Happy 4th.
