Harley keeps promoting ther "SuperRide" where you can demo any of their bikes, so I went and rode the Buell Lightning XB12S. That bike WOULD be a ton of fun except for the extremly cramped riding position & earthquake like vibrations. I only rode it about 7 miles and my hand was already getting numb from the vibes. That engine is pretty tough though and sounds awesome.

Try riding a Softail. They have a counterbalanced engine that is as smooth as the Triumph twins.

I have a XB12X Ulysses. Plenty of room. I like the nasty/rough/tough feel of the motor at low revs. Cool low end grunt. Smooth's right out where you do the majority of your riding - 3000+ rpm's. ---Bob

Those adventure bikes look like a lot of fun.
The reason I wanted to "ride the lightning" was due to it's low seat high as I'm what you'd consider vertically challenged. Most sporty/adveture bikes are too tall for me.
The next bike I want to ride is the BMW R1200R. You can get those with a low seat and low suspention.
Of course I'm no where near ready to get a new bike. I still have a laundry list of upgrades to do on my Bonnie Black.

I'd really like to sit on a lightening. Every buell I've sat on, I felt like I would go over the bars if I touch the brakes! Bars real close to the seat, and low, ya know? Height isn't much of a problem for me, so I'd probly like it.
