im sure your not an idiot, just not informed. "cat" is short for catalytic converter. its the honeycomb looking thing in the header side of your stock slip ons that helps reduce emissions.

Ok then since you're sure I'm not an idiot I guess I can try to help answer your question I used the jet calculator when I installed my new pipes and changed to K&N's and never took into account the cat. If that helps at all.

I guess they have done away with the air injection set-up on the new models! and replaced them with "cats" My '04 790 had air injection to ignite and burn unburnt fuel from the exhaust gasses etc The TOR shorts have nothing special inside them. I used a 25mm holesaw to remove the plug (from the back) - the blind/plug/blank to push the gasses through the baffle material. I could see nothing like honeycomb in there. The "cats" are supposed to be so hot they achieve the same thing. I hope you don't have to put up with the old "bang-pop-pop-bang" we used to put up with on the overrun, 'till removing the air injection!! Man that was embarrasing to listen to!

I might have missed something, but I am not aware of any of the carburated twins having catalitic converters. No cats (or katz as we spell it) to factor in.

So enlighten me on this one too. We have AI instead of cats, katz, catalytic converters...right? Because that was my understanding of the AI-was to burn the unspent fuel in the exhaust pipe. Which would be essentially the same use as the catalytic converter-right?

From what I understand AI is (was) there to 'dilute' the exhaust by mixing in air to appease the EFI gods.
