Never really understood the whole 'trike' thing...all the disadvantages of a car (can't filter, higher road tax, more expensive to run etc.) and all the disadvantages of a bike (wet when it rains, you get cold, little protection in the event of a collision etc.) but each to their own...loads of people love 'em !!!! This one doesn't 'work' IMHO.......it looks too lightweight, the back end kit looks what it is, a bolt-on addition.......and not worth the £12K build cost. But someone will buy it and love it I'm sure !!!

Me I wouldnt have a trike, but for those who cant balance on 2 wheels anymore, a trike is a great way to still let them ride. Your right, to me the rear end looks weak compared to most I have seen

That thing looks ugly, too wide and looks unfinished in the rear.

I agree with the general consensus here. I'm also not a fan of trikes, or sidecar-equiped M/Cs for that matter.
However, I have to say that I find the rear suspension of this trike somewhat interesting, as if I'm not mistaken most trikes that I've seen in the past have a solid(or "live") rear axle, and this one appears to have an independently sprung at each wheel rear end, which I figure might make this trike handle just a bit better than most of 'em.

It may suit a biker who has a disability.....lost a leg in an accident perhaps....but still wants to be 'out in the breeze' rather than stuck in a car forever more. The more I look at this one though.....the more I find to dislike it for !!

I'm with Dwight. Not a fan of trikes, but to each his own. At the very least, you gotta give him some props for the innovation. Creativity is cool with me whether it's expressed with a pen, welder, paintbrush, guitar... whatever...

I think it would have been much better if the oem rear fender was gone and the back end treated differently.

Most trikes are ugly in appearance to me......I do see some older bikers who still want to be in the wind and carry a pillion who enjoy them.
In that regard I am uncertain to criticize this too much. Most trikes utilize much bigger bikes/engines.
At least it is a Triumph and so we cant be too CRITICAL.
A triumph perhaps more suited to TRIKISM is perhaps a Rocket.

Yeah okay, maybe so.
But don't look now Ian, but I think the lady who just rode up on that thing just issued you a parking ticket and slid it under your Studebaker's windshield wipers over there next to your shed, dude!!!

I like trikes a lot but I'd never do this to my bike (I'd do it to another Triumph, just not my first one). I've wanted an old skool VW trike for as long as I can remember. This Triumph one is a little unfinished looking but that's easily rectified. My girlfriend wants to ride with me but has leg problems and won't do a motorcycle (with me or alone) so next year we might be looking at getting her a Bombardier Spyder. But I'd much rather see her on this TBA trike.

That TBA trike kinda sucked. I'm with John on the old school VW trike. There were some nice ones back in the day and apparently there are some cool ones still being made. Like this one... Or this one... .jpg) Now THESE are trikes!!!

Not a big fan of trikes, often just thought of them as a lazy bikers toy, for a disabled person thats fine, if anyone interested, there's a Speedmaster trike on BSH calander for June.

One thing that Trikes should have and this Bonny doesn't, is a way to keep passengers feet of the ground!
A disaster waiting to happen!
I think if some nice fiberglass cowling work could make this at least as nice as other trikes. I really like the suspension idea, but they left to much exposed. It does look wide, too.
The interesting thing is when you turn the corner on that thing, I suspect the bike will lean OUTSIDE the turn, not in. It WILL lean!

I have a friend with an after market leg who ride a VW trike. a couple years ago he was going to sell it and buy a Goldwing trike. I offered to buy it as soon as he told me. He changed his mind and still has it.

I don't really care for trikes. I've seen a few that looked ok, but that Triumph is not one of them. I'd rather see a sidecar. A trike should be made as a trike. Never cared for make do adaptations.

Why would you have a trike and not use the axle areas for storage? Makes no sense at all. At least most trikes have a storage area or a really comfortable riding position.
This has neither. Its just ugly.

somewhere in the history of this site there is a pic of a R3 done as a trike. i think the R3 is one of if not the best trike i've seen. it looked like it should be a trike. but this America trike is just not right at all. get rid of the rear stock fender and put a box there and maybe???? but as it is.....no way!!!
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

I quite like the idea, if you are biker and have a family at least you can involve them, and turn up at places like the Farmyard. I cant see the point though instead of a bike, would have to have both I think...

I saw these at Ephrata last week. There was also an old VW trike with a Evo v-twin for power, but I didn't get a shot of that one (it was a beauty). This guy had a rig for his wheelchair: This guy was just plain nuts! This one just a little odd:

I love this one. How weird would it be to be riding a motorcycle with a "sidecar" where all you had was a grab bar, and the sidecar occupant was driving! Crazy. But cool.
There's a para working for the HD dealership in Great Falls with an old school-looking Harley and sidecar. He's in a wheelchair but apparently can transition to the bike and stores his fold-up wheelchair in the side car. Whatever it takes to keep it in the wind I suppose...
