I don't know what it's like in the rest of the mid-west, but here in my small town Iowa, they're changing the welcoming signs to read, "Welcome to the Seattle of the Midwest"! It rains pretty much every three days, at least, and has since April. I'm starting to worry about the weather in July for the midwest rally.

It's been soaked here too. But luckily, today was 95 and humid!

Had to cut out of work yesterday to get in a ride. Made it over to Mcgregor up to Lansing then down the Wisconsin side to Prarie du chien. Over by Elkader this thing snuck up behind me and stayed there until we were over by Shellrock.

We normally get 4+ inches of rain here in the month of June. Last night we got about 3.5 and there's more coming. Several local towns and in fact the county I live in have declared a state of emergency. Took me close to an hour to drive 9 miles home from work after midnight. There's damage and debris everywhere here.

Hey!!!! Out here in Seattle, we just passed day 30 of no rain. We've been having beautiful riding weather. I'm itching to get another bike so I can ride up around Mt. Rainier.

Oh yeah, the cherries and fresh strawberries are just awesome!!

Wednesday, we went to an amusement park some 80 miles away in TX. They closed early because of a rainstorm. Yesterday, I had to take the brand x bike in for a recall and got soaked on the way home. Today's forecast is 40% chance of rain and tomorrow gets 60%. Think I'll be driving to work.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we had some of the strongest thunderstorms. I didn't sleep a wink. Finally yesterday things stepped back a bit, but it's hot. Rain in the forcast for this afternoon.

I was trying not to mention it! Thanks for jinxing us! All the rain we've had so far this spring, it's gotta dry out some this summer. My prediction, mid to upper 80's and sunny for the whole weekend!

So, it looks like there are some weather concerns for the Midwest Rally this year. I’ve done some armchair meteorology, concerning July in the Midwest, and there’s good news.

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting that precipitation will be “average” for the months of June-July. Now, what that means is this: since we’ve had an unprecedented amount of rain in June (Approximately 125-300% more than usual from Maine into Arkansas) we should begin to dry out, rather quickly. The temperatures are predicted to be slightly below average, west of Illinois, so I’d expect to see a higher likelihood of unstable weather, but a decrease in the total precipitation for the region. Most of these problems are due to a lingering LaNina event in the Pacific and should allow for a pretty average summer next year.

I hope the weather stays clear for you guys, just keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for the forecast, Matt. I hated to be a jinx, as I usually settle for plain ole paranoia. Weather from here? Rained 3 out of the last 5 days, and rained today. Anybody have a good Cajun recipie for mold and mildew?

Today was sunny and warm, so I rode to work. Tomorrow is more of the same and I don't have to work, so I'll probably be out on the road.

Rich, I know you were joking but if you do have a problem with m&m just spray it down with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Wear a mask though 'cause this stuff can burn your lungs.
