For those who might remember I totaled Bonnie in June of '06 by Labor Day I had her back to new specs.
Well June 3rd '09 I was running down to Des Moines for a BBQ contest and a skool bus pulled out in front of me.
I don't know if Bonnie will be totaled this time but I nearly was.
Multiple spine fractures (3) in a collar for 6 weeks. Broken nose, nasal cavity, cheek bones, skull fracture. They had to do emergency surgery to save my left leg and many abrasions and bruises.
All of this even thogh I was wearing a full face helmet, armoured jacket, gloves and boots.
I'll be fine but am going to miss the Mid-west gathering in July.
Me and the Bike?? Wife says divorce me the minute my leg slides over the saddle again. I think she might mean it this time.
So take care all. Wear your gear, and ride well.
Ed

Wow! Tough break there, Ed!!!(nope...no pun intended that time, dude)

Get well soon. I hope your wife reconsiders her objections to you ridin' again once you're back up and runnin', but I can fully understand her feelings here.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

It's okay, you'll get used to being single in no time.

Mine said that once. Didn't miss her near as much as I would have the bike.

Sorry to hear about your crash, hope the bus insurance takes good care of you. Good luck with the wife, only you know what you need to do.

A school bus???? WTF! Who needs to be in that big of a hurry to get those brats back home! Man I feel for ya, and wish you the best. I'm amazed at the injuries you have for a full face helmet. Between the cell phone talkers and testers, you get taken out by a supposedly trained, responsible driver! Then again, with a bunch of end of the year kids in the bus, I could understand being distracted. I sure hope you'll be able to settle the return to biking disagreement so both of you have some happiness. Get well soon.

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

You hit a big ole yellow school bus!

Dang good thing they don't move houses that much anymore.

Glad to hear your alive, and not permanently wounded.

I KNEW your story was gonna be better than my same ole deer story from last weekend! Wow! That's some serious injuries! I wish you a quick recovery! As for the wife, a good one is hard to find. I wouldn't trade mine for a bike. Well, maybe TWO bikes, and some gear!

Really sorry about your accident. What can I say... I've never been through that but what an ordeal to say the least. I hope for you a speedy and complete recovery and resolution with the wife and riding.
