Just got one of these "daytona" helmets off ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycl...lQ5fMerchandiseTheyre DOT and dont really look like it. (thats a good thing) Pretty cheap too

yeah the visors gotta go, but they look good. They dont have the same amount of plush padding as a top of the line helmet, but I dont mind. The sizes run a bit smaller so if youre a large you need an extra large.

This pic is a little misleading that they have here THIS IS NOT ME...haha
But only cause the dudes got a huge long face and the helmet looks smaller than the visor..haha
But they basically look like theyre a DOT half helment on top but then slimmed down the sides. So its not a full 18" of armor going all the way around your skull..haha

Good punt. Helmets have a date of manufacture on them. The impact absorbing styrofoamstuff deteriorates over time. Old helmets are like old tires, thanks but no thanks.

Daytona helmets can be found at Bikersden website. Those are new helmet and retail for about $50. It's not a bad looking helmet, I'd get one if it didn't have those visor snaps on the brow.

Jebus! That's a huge visor! My 3/4 helmet had a visor too, first thing to go. You could always remove the visor and put in some of these-

A friend of mine is a dealer for Daytona Helmets. They advertise that they make the smallest size 3/4 and 1/2 helmets on the market (that meet DOT standards). I will probably get a 1/2 helmet since the two I currently have are well over 6 years old.

another cool thing is that the snaps on the helmet are black. Most 3/4 helmets have chrome snaps and they stand out all wierd when you take off the visor. These ones blend in.
