I ran across a sweepstakes entry that says ...

Now just why would a Canadian winner have
to take a math test???

because if the the cost of the entry is free then for some reason or another you have to answer a skill testing question. Usually a simple math question.

Because if yer not from canada, we'll just give it to you.

Well my generous Canadian neighbors, I'm a little strapped for cash and
would very much like to own a fine piece of British engineering like the
Triumph America. If all I have to do is ask, how about I ride up on my
V-Star and have you help me with a trade?

The REASON is that they want to make sure NO AMERICAN wins by mistake!!!

I mean, you guys up there HAVE to have heard HOW BAD our educational system down here now is, right?! So they're just usin' THIS method to weed out all the Americans, and so all that money stays up there in the Great White North where it belongs!!!

(BUT, if you guys were REALLY smart up there, that test would've been a GEOGRAPHY test...THAT WAY it'd be a SURE THING no Yank would win it by mistake THEN!!!)
